sToCk7miLL
try a little bit of carb or break cleaner. I know the cold weather makes things difficult to start WICKED....... i will try. the plugs are dry, is there anyway i can test the cdi box without a voltage regulator? if the cdi box is bad would both plugs be getting spark? Flywheel looks normal.

Flywheel looks normal. If the CDI is bad you'll have spark every so often kicks. Signs of igniter or say diode going bad in the box Also you can try this sometimes works. Take a hose clamp and squeeze the CDI in the middle. Put something round in between. Like a sockets on the top and bottom that will help the contact in the CDI and give you a couple more chances to see that it is.
BigRed350x
WICKED....... i will try. the plugs are dry, is there anyway i can test the cdi box without a voltage regulator? if the cdi box is bad would both plugs be getting spark? Flywheel looks normal. Its very rare that the CDI boxes go bad. Usually a coil or stator is the bad culprit before a CDI box. Check your ohms on the stator and compare to your clymer manual. After that try and install new plug caps and double check all your grounds. There's one back by the CDI, one down by your stator, and the coil itself is grounded to the frame and has a + and - lead on it. Check the orange wire goes to + and black goes to - It is possible that your stator is getting worn out and isn't providing enough energy to the CDI and coil to make a good spark. You sure you have good gas? Reeds all good, no cracked reeds or one hanging open? What's your jetting and elevation/temps? You sure your flywheel hasn't slipped on the taper and your timing isn't messed up? When the piston is close to TDC one of the magnets on your flywheel should be passing the pickup coil, or at least close to it, depending on how much timing advance or retard you have. Just for shits n giggles, give it a quick short shot of ether through your carbs while you hold the throttle open. Then kick it and see if it pops. If it does, then you might have bad gas or incorrect jetting. If it doesn't you might have timing or spark issues. If you're running stock carbs, are you sure they are synced up? Have the choke tube installed? Let us know what your jetting is and we can help diagnose the problem a little better. We need more details than what your compression is and that it won't start. sToCk7miLL
the bike was running ok. it sat for a month,we put fresh gas in it av gas,an kotz mix 4 0z to a gallon. we put new pipes[rocket pipes on it rode it twice. went to start it an now it wont start .all in the same day,it has spark an is jetted ok compression is ok, i have a few years of knowledge.we are not beginners just dont have the test equip for electrical. Well if you still have spark then your going to take a look in the intake as by bigred350x suggested. reeds might be just laying there or shot out the tail pipes. Might just pop off the carbs and stick your finger and see if your missing one or take a look with a flash light with the slides Wide open. Might be able to see it too. you'll track it down. It's just eliminating the simple things 1st. The CDI was an option if no spark. But if it has plenty then might not be ignition. you might be chasing something else down. Being a 7mm pop off the stator cover and see if the fly wheel isn't just dancing there or like bigred350x said check the fly wheel key. Them tapper after market cranks are known to do that. Works to lap them in place.

thrill-billy85
Man this kinda sounds like a busted reed issue. Mine did the same thing! I was riding, everything was good, and then it just died. I put my hands over the intakes and pushed the kick starter by hand, and felt air come out..... That's how I knew. I'd say its most likely a reed issue. If the reeds are good, and the flywheel look good, it'll be time for a leak-down test. I sell the testers. PM me if you don't wanna dick with making your own. fastquad02blaster
Your carbs might just be plugged up. That happens when stuff sits for a while. Check the reeds like mentioned above and if they check out ok, I'd go into the carbs. Make sure they're not all gummed up. You said the plugs were dry...if you are getting fuel they should be a little bit wet.
sleeper06
I have had so many race gas issues its unbeleivable, your head would spin if you knew how quik vp loses integrety and jams carbs
