pabansheematt
He had trouble truing it but sent it anyways? Thats what I was thinking? I guess he was hoping no one noticed.
stroking
well when you think about, how many people would bother to check trueness on a $800+ crank i'd bet not many check it on any aftermarket crank. and that could be why cranks fail and you never really know why....because it was NOT really .001 like most say it is. dajogejr
In my opinion, it's the heart of your motor, I'd bet more check it than you'd think. My question is why it was sold to you when he said he had a hard time getting it to true...was it "good enough" when it left his store??? dajogejr
So...he trued up a crank to .006, sold it to you...acknowledged it was out...and then it was sent back to him for an exchange? Wow...
BigRed350x
Holy cow, I agree with daj. The guy knowingly sent you out a crank that he couldn't get trued up. Note to self... don't shop at TDR.
stroking
BUT as i said before...how many people have actually checked they cranks before installing. if he sells 20 cranks a year how many of those you think gets checked...really? and i say that too say this...i guess he sent it out thinking it was going to another person that was not going to check it. im wondering now about those vito 10mils that keep coming apart.....wonder how many more cranks are out there thats not trued. i know now that all cranks will be checked that i install. So Cal Suspension
That's kinda scary that he knew 6 thousandths was too much, but hoped that it was going to someone who wouldn't check. Imagine if we all did business that way...

What washer are you talking about? What's an easy way to check the runout on a crank? I've NEVER checked one myself, j ust take builders word for it. So Cal Suspension
I can barely decipher most of your posts. What washer are you talking about? You and me both. I think he drinks heavily. Seriously. He was on last night in the shoutbox at about 1am, rambling about cooking a steak, so he didn't pass out drunk with an empty stomach. It's kinda sad, really... stroking
got the new one in....looks alittle different, webs are black, but it still has HOTROD rods......i'll check trueness later
BigRed350x
If the webs are black, chances are its from the same place vitos gets them... They are the only ones out there that seem to have the black webs. I would check with TDR and make sure they gave you the same $800 crank and not the cheaper one they sell. BigRed350x
I still don't understand why the ziptie is on the crank beside the TZ bearing. What's that all about?
96bansheepilot
I still don't understand why the ziptie is on the crank beside the TZ bearing. What's that all about? People put the zip tie there in order to not let the TZ bearing fall off the crank and let all the rollers fall out. The TZ's are able to be taken apart. They just slide together.
