midlifecrisis
Its not as easy as just splicing them together. You have to remember that one of them is a closed loop system, and the other is an open loop system, I just cant remember which is which. I screwed around with mine again and again, then sent it in to the dealer, Im no glutten for punishment.
byenow
so you cant just touch the red and black together and call it a day????
fastquad02blaster
I thought when you turned the key on it completed the circuit. With it off it was open. I could be wrong though. If there are only two wires, I would think you could splice them together and be fine.

rubberneck
Yep 06 nailed it, just cut them and splice them together for the keyswitch. That switch works by completing the circuit when put in the on position. For the handlebar on off switch it works the opposite. Completing the circuit kills the bike. (This is important to know if you wan to put in a tether kill switch.) Im goint to do you guys a favor and post a link. Print it out and read it/keep it in your garage it will answer all your electrical probs and provides a wiring diagram. There is nothing on a banshee electrical related that should ever make you take it to a shop. Super simple system, and with the help of this site and the FAQ section you can fix anything. bode1
I cut my key off, spliced the two wires together and haven't had a problem. Ditto, I lost my key on a trip and had to do this in the parking lot. easy.

rubberneck
wow, pretty quick to hand out hot-wire instructions to a new guy without question...... Anybody that would rely on the key to keep their banshee from disapearing is an idiot in the first place. Second, the info is all over the place, A simple search would have revealed the page i linked. Its a sticky for gods sake
Jereme6655
ehh.....if the pro theif really wants it....he's gonna get it. The point of having a key (and hell even locking it up) is to keep the joy riders from having too much fun and to keep the honest people honest. Kinda like the older Artic Cat snowmobiles ALL use the same exact key......hell go to a bar with a Artic Cat key and you could get an easy 20 sleds a night. Ya...you could wire in your own kill switch on your bike so that its hidden and only you know where it is......but then again the pro theifs just gonna chuck it in a truck and be gone. Once its at his place he can take all the time he wants to get it figured out and then he's off to the races.
AKheathen
yah, and polaris only had 4 keys, and you even knew which key to use if you knew where to look, and that didn't matter since it only takes unpluging 1 wire to make 90%run, but that's the difference between in the know, and figuring it out yourself, and being a new guy with a few posts only interested in the one task. (joy-rider vs. pro).......2 years ago, there would have been a holy inquisition before just handing the info over to a new member.... Jereme6655
i can understand that....as i would freak out if i caught someone trying to get info from us good-people to cheat and steal his way to a free ride. but yeah.......it was funny as shit when my buddy freaked out cause he forgot his sled key down-state. Should ahve seen the really horrified look on his face when i unplugged his key switch and pull started it and said lets go. I think before that day he was under the assumtion that his stuff was forever theif proof because of a key.
