Hey i got a 96 banshee with Full FMF Pipes and exhaust full air box with a k and n air filter.

Stock carbs elevation is sea level NY City jets are 250 Mains with 30 Pilot jets. Why is she sluggish when first moving but when it hits mid range to Top end it hauls ass ??? when idling it idles fine but when i go to rev it , it sounds terrible when reving it up

I guess theres quite a few things that could be impacting your problem. But first, i would start by doing the following:

1. run the bike with no airbox lid. it breathes alot better.

2. bump your mains up to 280's

3. drop pilots to 25 or 27...whatever stock is.

4. how is spark?

spark is fine why would i increase the mains if they run really good at wot without any bigging??? im just saying it runs good at top end and midrange too its only the bottom that is sluggish really,

i can guarantee ur going to be a 27.5 pilot.put that in,the 30 is way too fat.i havent ran a set of pipes yet that worked well with a 25 pilot.the 27.5 is going to be perfect, with air screw adjustments of course.as for the 280 mains, thats only if u pull ur air box lid and run it open.running with the lid on as u are,the 250s are abbout right.i love my lid on my stocker,my bike runs great and the filter never gets clogged with shit like my stroker.if i didnt cut the mounts and feel like coon tuning shit,i would put it back on.then again, where i ride, the lid is necessary.

ok so at second look i am not a 250 main im a 290 main and i dropped the pilot to 25 cuz thats all i had, it sounds a lot better than it used to now i can also use the idle screw to adjust the idle and it finally actually adjusts. but i haven't touched the screws on the sides of the carbs yet. i am still running with the air box lid on, should i remove the lid??? and which way do i turn the screw on the carb to lean it out ???
