duneable override

i dont know of any downside of this mod besides its NOT and override.. you still need to use the clutch to shift it, IF you are drag racing only i'd say drop the $$$ on an override. and learn to ride it corectelly.. if your over is cut well, and the ramps are not stupid wrong, and the drum is done right and NOT sloppy, ROUGH, AND SHITTY LOOKIN,, and you ride it right it will last a long time.

 

if your a play rider or MX racer or trails or any other type of riding where shifting stupid fast with the clutch OUT is not a must have

( override) than the mod trans is nice. if you have a CUB and it WONT shift under load, OR even a serval would be sweet with this trans set up. i recomend them ANYTIME i have a motor apart for any kind of build. its almost a no brainer for me.

 

i have a local machinest cut mine and i have gears ready to go. i just take the trans, switch the gears out, and install new locks and its ready to go. cut the star and mod the shaft you have a sweet trans,. it is an easy simple mod IF your trans is already out. if you not sure if you want an override then this is the trans mod for you. you can easily convert it to an overide later as all over's have this "cut " done to work corectelly..

Of course it's easy to do if you have access to a CNC mill or similar machines. Then of course the know how to do it correctly. I wish i knew how to cut them, because i am a machinist and i have a couple friends who run/program CNC Mills.

 

It's only about $325ish with core. Well worth the money. I still recommend it on an all around play bike. It's just so fun and addicting just playing in the fields with it.

 

Keep in mind you dont use any modded shift star nor any shift pro shift kit. Plus if your bike has bad traction issues, the bike might not shift well with an override. I found this all out the hard way even though i was warned many times before.

let me rephrase my question.i want to know the durability of a duneable override that might get rode through the trails ocassionally.i have an override in the garage but i have never layed my eyes on a duneable(not many dunes in southern ohio)i'm nearing 50 yrs old and cant shift like i used too.hell most of the time i just take my bike to where we drag race and watch somebody else ride it while i drink beer..... AK you better be careful or Loco might give you another spanking.he likes to call you akmoron but i kinda like aknutholster.

I disagree with the above post. That's more of an opinion.

 

I went ride some Dunes for the first time saturday. Transmission was a blessing. It would be been nice to have a stock trans to coast down hill via engine braking but that wasnt a problem at all. My duneable override was smooth, problem free and a beast on the 300' track. Now i truely see why they call it duneable

 

If you dont like your override, you can make most of your money back if it's bought from a good company IMO. It seems people are always wanting one.
