4 mil stroker help

Recommended Posts

ok guys, here is the deal, I'm really looking for some input. I'm about to run into to some money, and I want more power. This is what I have. 4 Mil stroker, 340 mains, stock carbs, not sure what exhaust I have. I'm starting to get into the sand drags. I was thinking about a big bore kit, (not sure which one) and maybe some pipes. What are some of your ideas. Probably looking to drop a grand in some more hp. its also bored 10 over. Not sure if I should bore more or just get the big bore kit.

Thanks for you advice and thoughts,

Randy

Jon,

That would be ideal, but cant spend that type of money just yet. Maybe down the road when I get my streetched out shee...

You will sink just as much money in to the stock cylinders as buying a 800-900 dollar cub cylinder. The only reason to do a big bore over a cub would be to keep the port timings more setup for trail / mx porting wich will not gain you a whole lot of power for the money you spend.

I still plan on riding trails and on the mx track, along with the 300 ft. Sand drag

Just dune port your cylinders,Your gonna have to sacrafice somewhere. With a 1000 budget your forgetting about everything around the hp.

#1pull the crank get it trued welded with a maxlosd bearing- $100

#2new seal kit-$50

#3porting ranges from 350-550 depending on how drastic you wanna go

#4pistons -$180

#5bore/hone,usually included if builder is porting and supplying pistons

#6transmission if its making good hp it wont shift

U gotta 4mil running on stock carbs? Upgrade! Keep the crank get a niceport no need to bore us be surprised., carbs pipes port...

YEah, the guy I traded my snap-on box for the shee, Just had that crank put in. So I think I'm just going to go with an aggressive dune port, and find some pipes from someone on here. Then see how she reacts to that. Then if I'm still not happy, I will throw on some bigger carbs. Thanks for the input guys. How much can you take out of the cylinder before you need to sleeve it.

You should not bore stock cylinders for more power, you should only bore the stock cylinders to restore proper cylinder clearances. You can go .100 over on stock cylinders but you might have overheating issues and/or head gasket problems.
