2sTrokeLove
ok heres my set up, i have a stock stroke cub ported, with cpi out of frame pipes, 34mm lectrons, pods, advanced timing, plus 6 swinger, 1-5 override from grr, billet basket, hd clutch and springs, i want to make this cub a power house, wat do i have to do to put in a 10mil crank, and wat size do the rods need to be..any opinions would help, an i should go to bigger carbs if i do the 10mil cub, all im running this bike for is dirt drag only....please help!!! dajogejr
Trench the cases, the 10 mil crank will not drop in. Shouldn't need to epoxy them...just trench 'em. Other than domes, that's all you'll need. Everything will bolt right up. If you ran a stock stroke cub, you either had 65 or 68mm pistons. I don't believe they make a 65mm 10 mil cub, if they do they are very, very rare. So, you might need pistons as well. You can't run as small of a dome on a 10 mil as you can a stock stroke... My advice is a longer swinger and a lockup. A 10 mil will smoke through even a heavy duty clutch without a lockup. You're adding about 10 to 20 HP on average, so think about tires, gearing, etc.
sleeper06
dave has more experiance than me but im almost certain you will need new cylinders due to port castings, your durations would be too high to work .Im also pretty sure a 10mil is 68mm pistons at least the one i seen was.Deck heights are also diffrent
dajogejr
I totally misread that...thank you sleeper. I thought he wanted to put a 10 mil cylinder AND a 10 mil crank on. You can do this one of two ways... You can spend a lot of time and money with a spacer plate and/or cut domes and a lot of porting on your cub, or you could sell your cub and buy an as cast 10 mil cylinder. If you had a 7 mil cylinder and wanted to jump to 10 you could make it work much easier. But stock stroke to 10 mil? That's way too much work and effort when you can easily bolt on a cylinder ready to go. I've seen guys try this both ways....7 up to 10 and a 14 down to 10. It's a lot of work and guessing....more time and money than what it's worth IMO...

Are you sure they are 66.50mm cub cylinders? Anything is possible...that's just an odd size...as said. 65 and 68 are what they came in. Are they sleeved? You won't save any money from 7mil to 10. Crank cost the same, trenching is the same.... Unless you found a used set of 7mil stuff for DIRT cheap or are competing in a 450cc and under class, go with the 10 mil. They come nikasil coated. You do not bore nikasil. They are always setup as a 65 or 68 out of the box. If you have a 66.5 bore, they were prolly sleeved which is pretty rare to see. When you blow a nikasil cyl and mess the coating they have to be recoated. I know cylinders can be custom coated to different bore sizes, but not sure how thick you can go from the actual aluminum bore of the cylinder. dajogejr
Anything is possible. As said...it didn't come that way. You can bore and perhaps nikasil them...but I think the sleeve would be thin. You should be able to tell if there is a sleeve in them or not.
