Roccdeezy
Alright guys once again I am a new guy but I read a lot of forums on this site so I signed up. I had my banshee fall on its face when the crank seal started leaking and my left cylinder started running lean. Well, we all know what happens then. The piston melted and the crank bearing starved. The crankcase is scar'd really bad and I want to know if this is an issue or should I just clean the case and start puttin her back together. I'm worried about the fuel that feeds the crank not flowing correctly. Or am I just paranoid. Thanks!
Larry's Shee
Are you talking where the bearing rides in the case or did the crank rub on the case? Unless the crank practially rubbed through the case you're good to go. Lightly sand scarring with medium emery cloth to remove any small particals that might come loose later ,clean well, put it back together with new crank. Roccdeezy
No it is not where the bearing rides it is in the center of the left cylinder where the rod was banging on the bottom and top of the crank case. Now you said using emery cloth will clean it up. Is this the typical 4 mil banshee build cleanup job? Also what do you think About port matching the case to the cylinder. If i do not port match the case will it hurt me a lot or little when it comes to power.
jbooker82
Just sound like typical damage from gernading a engine. A 4mill crank drops right in no machine work nessessary.
Larry's Shee
My suggestion has nothing to do with it being a 4mil. It is to remove any almost loose particals that "might" come loose later and possibly get into bearing. Case matching is not necessary unless you need that last 1-2 hp , or if they are grossly mis-matched. It will provide the soothest flow of intake charge though. Do a little search ,think I saw example of it on here before.
