fastquad02blaster
Did he do a filter at some point and not rejet it? That's kindof what it is sounding like to me. You can tell by just looking at the plug if it's too rich or lean by the color. If they are black or dark brown it's too rich. A nice chocolate milk color is what you want. sp1tekiller
Plugs looked dark brown, but not too bad. Borderline, maybe. Fresh gas, plugs and oil hasn't had any effect, at least just revving it. No room to run it right now. Going to purchase some jets and get cracking at it I guess. sp1tekiller
Well he said it was bogging while riding it before, and also just revving the same way it is now. We'll double check, but I'm pretty sure nothings changed.
zachass9
Make sure choke tub is between carbs, and make sure the filter is clean. Also check the condition of the reeds. I had a bike do this same thing, it ran great on bottom but wouldnt pull into the power at all. The wires in the stator cover were torn up! It was an easy fix, but involved a lot of headache because I chased fuel issues for ever, Just my .02, good luck!! sp1tekiller
What the hell is a choke tub? Hahaha. Thanks for the input.
sp1tekiller
Oh, did you mean choke tube? How can I make sure he's got that on there? I don't really know what I'm looking for.
GrMeyer
Its a black tube that connects both carbs together. It is about 2-1/2 inch long. Its about half way up the carb on the inside.
sp1tekiller
Took it for a rip, definitely feels like the mains are too rich. Thanks for the all the input.
sp1tekiller
So he takes it to a trusted shop and they rejet it and proceed to call him and tell him that it's still running exactly the same. I'm not sure that this makes much sense, it seemed pretty clear that jetting was the problem. Assuming the jetting IS fine, what's the next issue we should chase? The stator? Reeds? Compression? I had a Similar problem. I put new Plug boots on and fixed the problem!! they couldnt deliver enough juice when i was reving er out with a load on it. In Neutral it would sound and run fine. But once i put a load on it,it would drop a cyclinder at higher RPM's.
sp1tekiller
A compression test revealed that there is only 90 in one side and 95 in the other. Obviously a top end is in order. I guess this could explain the bogging, eh?
