changing lower case

i have read all the talk about this job . Some guys say i can do it by just taking off the lower half. but about the cluch and the bearing plate.

can you guys please give me a step bye step to do this. thanks for all the help , iam happ y to see all the shee freaks out there.

So what exactly are you wanting to do inside?

 

You will still have to take off the clutch, bearing plate and the timing plate also ether way you go about splitting.

It's always best to replace them as a set.

 

There cast as a set from Yamaha.

 

Not saying you cant, but it's best to do them as a set.

 

You ever split the cases before?

i have a got a set of cases why is it the best to keep them together.i have split the case on 2 or 3 blasters

You can take them appart and put them back to gether fine. You just dont want to mix and match case halfs. The top and bottom haves are a set. Yamaha bolts them together and finish bores / line hones all the bearing surfaces / bores. If you mix and match the cases you might end up with to tight or to loose of a bearing clearance.
