ludeing
I was riding and my Banshee started bogging really bad and i noticed one of my carburetor joints was ripped on top and was sucking air! So i took it apart and am buying a new one but when i put it back together do i put any sealant on it before i install? Because when i took it apart i seen there was stringy black stuff peeling off it like it had been sealed before! please help
SAVAGE420
Your talking about the metal cross over tube right? If so, then you can put a bead of silicone around the joints then clamp it tight if you like. Just make sure the rubber on your intakes are not cracked is all. prssantana
I wouldn't use silicone there. If you do then be careful. Any excess will squish out and you could end up with chunks of silicone in you bottom end. Also sounds like you have a boost bottle. From what Ive read they cause the cracking in the tubes you're talking about and you are better off with the stock crossover tube. The crossover and clamps should be sufficient. dajogejr
I always use silicone on the intakes. Unless you put a HUGE amount on there and it squeezes out, anything sucked in will just burn, it's not a bige deal. Put a thin, skim coat on both sides of any gasket you use. I also use blue loctite on the intake boot bolts, I've had mine back out as well...another sure fire air leak. Some people have luck without RTV or silicone...I've had leaks in the past on different builds. The key is to not get stupid with it...just use your head. sleeper06
I use three bond everywhere like stated above ,stock intake boots have a petrueded rubber ring that seals to the cage but i just dont trust it so seal it
prssantana
Sorry silicone on the gasket is fine. I miss understood it. I thought you meant on the crossover tube.
