Do not just try and do it yourself.
jbooker82
You also want to make sure the guys you have do it have a crank end or arbor that they install the flywheel on, instead of clamping the fly wheel directly in the jaws of the lathe. brugal
Yea, they have been known to crack at the shaved area.
brugal
Or you could send Bdbanshee a PM or an email with your questions. Him and boonman lightened alot of flywheels on here back in the day. You can also do a search in different forums here in the B.H.Q., you might find a piss match about weather to lighten the flywheel or not ,and the proper procedure to do it, ect ect... stroking
I dont like lightned flywheels for drag racing, Reguardless of rider weight. why ?
jbooker82
why ? It makes it bog easier off the line, and when riding it falls off the pipe easier. Lightining up the fly wheel just makes for a fast sounding engine while reving it with the clutch pulled in or in Neutral.
Larry's Shee
Seems to me if you were really concerned about rotational mass you would just pop for a PVL ign.
boonman
I like a lightened flywheel. With a power stroke every 180 degrees, mass isn't needed as much...
