Tire and trail riding question

So i need new tires bad cuz i cant hook until im in like 4th or 5th gear. my buddies 400ex is running all over me because of it! What do you guys suggest for a good all around tire? and what size? i'm gonna be field riding and running along the side of the road mostly on somwewhat steep slopes and right now i just slide down em everytime the powerband kicks....

Also he made a square track in the field yesterday that i went riding on with him and he was passing me. i'm sure i gotta get used to riding but i have a feeling the +6 swingarm was killing me on the turns...? should i throw the original back on for field and trail riding? Also i couldn't get the right gearing for that track as third didn't let me get into the powerband unless i clutched it and second ran out of revs. track was too short for shifting on straight aways...

thanks guys

Oh damm not a 400ex , lol

i know right! lol

I dont know what your mods are ,but a +6 swing arm for trails is a bad idea, put the stock back on.

As far as gearing, again I dont know your mods but 14\41 stock is a good start or 13\41.

mods are 410 cc bored, boost bottle, and t5 pipes. other than that im not sure cuz i bought it this way. def needs some tuning cuz i have no bottom end and i can tell it should run better than it is.

so when i put the stock back on what should i replace as far as hardware and bushings? i know i need some chain rollers as though are gone now.

You going to sell that swing-arm?

if i like how it runs with the original arm then yes ill be selling the +6

what mods do you have and what kind of riding mostly?

my mods are in my sig and i do mostly field riding and running around the county. got some circle tracks in the field that we race around too.

how in the world did you bore it to 410cc?

the boost bottle doesnt count as a mod

you need a stock swingarm, , is the +6 a roundhouse style? do you have a stock carrier

tuned properly and with a 13t front sprocket, and a stock swingarm, it will be a whole new machine

well this is only what the guy i got it from said. said it was 410cc with some bottom end work. his family owner a powersports shop so i guess its possible. the boost bottle came with it. didn't think it would hurt much so probably gonna leave it. i have the stock arm but im not sure what a roundhouse style is....? i think its the stock carrier...?

i think the tires hurt the most now cuz they are pretty worn down.... no sharp edges on any lug anymore...

I would guess your performance to be the same as a piped banshee. It doesnt sound like it has much for engine mods. The boost bottle is actually a negitave mod. It doesnt gain any thing.

A round house swing arm has a carrier that is off set. You crack two pinch bolts loose and rotate the bearing carrier.

Here is my round house swing arm.

nope youre good to go, thats the stock carrier on there, just bolt up the stock swingarm now, and run a line to the rear brake caliper, they work better with fluid pumping to them :)

before bolting up the stock swingarm, you may as well order a set of bearings for it and put them in while its off ,seach on ebay for "banshee swingarm bearings" should be around $20+ or so for the set of 2

those are the stock banshee dunlops, they suck even when brand new.. you need some MEATS! my 2 personal favs are holeshot GNCC and razr2, thats a whole nother thread and debate in itself though, really depends on your needs and what type of terrain you are riding.. whatever you do, dont buy any kendas , no matter what any tanned and jacked men try to tell you

aside from that, i would say your biggest concern should be how it runs , if you are clutching to bring the revs up now, it will only get worse once you put some real tires on with some tread, they will be grabbing 10 times more and putting much more of a load on the motor, if it cant get into the powerband now, it will be even worse with new tires

My last question is about the chain roller right on the stock swingarm. obviously the previous owner didn't worry too much about this as you can tell its been wearing on the swingarm itself. probably see how shiny the swingarm is in my pic above. what roller am i looking for or should i get a chain slider for it instead?
