Vito's super stock/Wiseco pro-lite/WSM forged piston

Recommended Posts

Im about to get my cylinders ported (MX Hardcore) soon by Kevin @ HJR & wanted to get a fresh top end rebuild while im at it. I wanted some opinions on what forged piston should I get installed for best overall performance & reliability. Im choosing one of the three: Vito's super stock, Wiseco pro-lite, or WSM forged piston. I was told that Vito's super stock was the same as Wiseco pro-lites, but not for sure.

Which piston is the lightest?

All opinion's are appreciated.....Thanks

wsm is the lightest. vito's super stock are the heaviest bullet proof. The older style vito's power pistons are in the middle of the two.I would use pro lites on a stocker with the crank welded with stock ports. It is best to let the pro builder use the rite pistons or you could fry your engine.good luck with it.

I have the Vitos 100 over and I would have to say that they are very good pistons. I had one of my idle screw fall out and seized the motor in 6th gear revved out. Popped the clutch and broke the motor free and then drove it 3+ miles home. Reringed and honed it and I still have 155 compression. Pistons looked great.

I was under the impression that the superstock pistons were only for non-ported motors. They have a cutaway on the exhaust side of the piston crown which changes the port timing.

That is what I thought too. They are supose to mimic a port job. So if your cylinders are ported then dont run them.

You should be getting the pistons from the guy doing the port work. That way he can measuer the cylinders and see wich pistons you need. Kev should have all sizes on his shelf. That way if there is an issue he can go pull the next size up and bore the cylinders.

I dont know why your concerned with running the lightest pistons avalble if your only getting a mx port. A mx port is bottom to mid port job. If you want more performance the get a more agressive port job.
