toomey - something tells me your opinion/stance on this whole thing might be different if Frankie wasnt a personal family friend of yours

i think frankie just has penns numbers now.. and knows how to win against him... a 25 min snooze fest.. thats how, he won twice which i guess says he IS better than penn.. but at the same time, that doesnt give him any advantages against anyone else in the division

the LW and WW need some finishers ... FLORIAN FINISHES FIGHTS!! ,at least thats what he always used to say, right? lol

Winning a decision against a fighter does not mean you are better than them. It means you convinced the judges that you should win the fight.

Let's say for example that Sonnen had pulled out the decision against Silva, which we all know he was well on his way to doing. Would you say that Sonnen is a better figher than Silva? I would sure hope not. Silva is leaps and bounds above Sonnen in just about every department, except for wrestling. We would just say that Sonnen did enough to convince the judges that he won the fight.

Another example would be Fedor/Werdum. Would you seriously consider Werdum better than Fedor? Hell fuck no. Fedor wins that fight 9/10 times.

All I am saying is that BJ is the better fighter, plain and simple. Edgar is a tactician. He has to use tactics to win fights because he isn't really good at anything. You cannot say that Edgar is a better fighter than BJ.

If a fighter wins by decision what does that say about the other fighter for not ending the fight by KO or submission? A fighter winning by decision, clear win not controversial, means he was the better fighter that night.

I like how both your examples ended in same submission. Emelianenko lost because he was careless, he was in danger of getting caught in a choke once but he again put himself in that position, resulting in a lose. He is with out a doubt the better fighter, might be bias since he is one of my favorite fighters. And as for Sonnen i believe he is a very good fighter he just doesn't learn from his mistakes, Sobrel, Maia and Silva, all defeated him the same way he even loses to Horn by giving up a arm bar when in a full guard, well one of his 3 or 4 or was it 5. :rotflmao: If he would just pay attention, train his ground game he would be a very strong fighter.

Using tactics to win shouldn't discredit a fighter form being good or even great. Thats just his fighting style every fighter has there style. He just better hope the judges see it in his favor, risky way of fighting.

As for BJ i really can stand that guy he is a disgrace to the sport of MMA. He has no respect for the sport or his opponent. This guy never comes prepared to fight and always pussy foots around in the ring. IMHO i think fighters that don't train there ass off or really emphasize there fighting ability in the ring is the biggest form of disrespect, even more then guys that trash there opponent, to me thats just for ticket sales or there is bad blood. Just look what happen to Silva the previous fights.

what fight were you watching? chael sonnnen isnt a very strong fighter?

:bolt:

Did you not read anything i wrote before that. Sonnen has lost 3 fights by triangle choke, Horn also came close to putting a choke but ended up with a arm bar. He is clearly making the same mistake over and over again. Like i said if he would pay attention and train his ground game he can be a strong fighter. Strong doesn't always mean muscular strength, I believe is what you are referring too. :D

i understand you wernt referring to muscular strength , i was just confused why you called him a weak fighter , or at least not strong.. he did something no one has ever done, control silva for almost 5 rounds, what little was fought on feet and on ground, yea hes made the same dumb mistake a few times, but to say hes not a strong fighter is crazy, the guy is a beast of a fighter that just seems to get caught up in the moment sometimes , hopefully silva wont dominate him in the rematch and make me eat my words

I didn't say he was weak i just said he isn't a very strong fighter. I believe you can see the difference in strong and very strong.

A fighter that keeps making the same mistake time and time again shows he has a weakness. Look at his record, 8 of his 11 loses have been by submission and 6 of those 8 have been by arm bar or triangle choke and only having 3 wins by submission. Thats a lot of times he has been caught up in the moment, and thats why i said he need to pay attention. Its clear he lacks skills on his ground game.

Yes he is strong, but if he works on his ground he can be a very strong fighter. One that will be hard to beat.

BJ > Edgar

Silva > Sonnen

Both lesser fighters either did win or should have won the fights. Both are lesser fighters.

IF BJ is better then Frankie, dont you think he would have at least won 1 of the 2 fights? Made the second one close? Won maybe 30 percent of the 10 total rounds? Frankie has his number, plain and simple. An individual sport is not like a video game. Just because "A" beats "B" and "B" beats "C" doesnt mean "C" can be "A". Its about styles. Frankie > BJ. Sliva > Asshole. (I cant friggin stand Silva)
