Shee9010
The banshee I'm buying(s) kill switch doesn't work, and I want to replace it with a tether kill switch. I know nothing about wiring, and I slammed my face against the desk trying to read the banshees wiring diagram. Could anyone tell me how to wire up a tether kill switch and remove the broken kill switch.

YOu still have headlight wires going to the same switch so u may want to just leavethat whole set up on your bars for high/low beams there is a black/white wire going into that switch.....when that wire is grounded it will kill the engine your tether should have two wires........one wll go to that black/white wire...the other will go to ground...(.anywhere on the frame.)... so when u pull the cord....it makes the ground connection......thats it.... RagunCajun
Mines wired differently. I think mine grounds out the orange coil wire. Hmmmm. Anyways, they come with instructions I know it doesn't answer your question but the instructions should.

You are much better off grounding the black/white wire.
RagunCajun
Then hopefully it's not how mine is done. I just followed te directions in my pro design kill switch. It gets used a lot since it's the only way to kill it.

midlifecrisis
In case you do want to tackle it, remember that you can only replace your kill switch with a tether, and not your key. Im no wiring wizard either, I actually sent mine into a shop cause I was so fuckin frustrated, but one is an open loop electrical system, and the other is a closed loop system, I just cant remember which one was which. I know he crimped my 2 wires from where my key was together.
RagunCajun
ah Ill just stick with the key to kill it, or turning the gas off. I dont know how to crimp wires, etc. etc. Sounds like you dont want to learn. You look up a wiring diagram and you read the instructions that come with the kit. All the wires are color coated for the simple reason for ease of identification. If you can work scissors(like cutting paper) then you can crimp/splice wires. It's simple. I deleted my key to both clean up my bars and because it's pointless. I stick my light switch behind my radiator to also clean it up. That's only why i can only kill my bike with the tether. While you are at it, u can delete your key. Ever go riding and take the bike off the truck and remember damn...i forgot my key. Wont happen again with no key switch http://s240.photobucket.com/albums/ff111/raguncajun/?action=view¤t=banshee25-18-09.jpg&newest=1 Shee9010, you CAN do it!!! Jereme6655
ah Ill just stick with the key to kill it, or turning the gas off. I dont know how to crimp wires, etc. etc. you DO NOT want to shut down your banshee by turning the fuel off. You dont' wanna do that cause you are in essence running the bike without oil as it is mixed in with the gas....so basically your rings are scrapin the cylinders without proper lube. PLUS a 2-stroke will "run-away" (ie begin to hi-rev) as it starves for fuel....which can lead to a whole shit ton of other problems..... my advice would be to keep shuttin it down by using the key switch or at worse by pulling the choke knob all the way out. Wiring the two key switch wires together makes your banshee on constantly......the use of a tether will allow you to shut it off..... It is very simple to crimp two wires together....they sell wire pliers that are used for stripping wires and crimping..... Eliminating the on/off switch as well as the Key switch eliminates a ton of excess wires on the bike
