Whats the best pickup truck from 99 to current``

I am looking to buy a truck here real soon. Whats the best truck?looking at quarter or half ton. Best in each category.

Brand new, I'd go with the Tundra. 99 models, that's tough. Probably F-150. Just sold my 2000 Silverado and they're tempermental bastards... From the shitty cable operated power window regulators right down to the shitbox 4L60e transmissions. Stay away from them!

There is no best. It's personal preference. I hear shit from chevy guys all the time since i drive a ford.

I dont think there is a best, it is what fits you best.

 

I had a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 and it gave me quite a few problems. Power steering went out twice, internal door components broke, rattled like a bitch, and was about to go through a tranny at 60,000miles. Had a dakota work truck from dodge, 2004 4x4 and it was the worst truck ive owned, broke all the time, was in the shop at least 10 times getting fixed.

 

Had a 2001 Dodge ram 1500 and it was decent, just got pathetic fuel mileage and not a HUGE amount of power for the fuel it used. Tranny went out at 125,000, sold the truck.

 

I now have a 2009 Chevy 1500 and its much nice IMO, rides better, great power and a much more comfortable interior.

Also just got a 2010 Chevy 3500HD and its great so far.

 

Ive never had a ford, cant say anything about them..

 

From my experience, i wouldnt get another Dodge, I like Chevys so id go with them IMO.

 

However, we have had damn near all models as work trucks on the ranch and they do all have problems, im not claiming chevy is flawless.

I currently have a 99 Chevy Silverado (new body style) that I have no problems with. The only work been done to it is oil changes, brakes replacement and battery. 130, 000 miles and still going.

i have an 01 silverado 1500, 115,000 miles, oil changes , brakes and tires is all it ever needs.

If you want a truck to work out of and haul shit besides your shee definitely a ford

If you want a comfy truck to just drive back and forth to work go with a chevy

And if you want a truck for the sake of having a truck get a dodge.

Really pull a 21ft. toy hauler or just the shee. Not a daily driver at all.

i wouldnt be looking at 1/4 ton "trucks" if youre gona be pulling a 21ft toy hauler.. thatd be a joke

id think a half ton with the companies largest available v8, tow package, trans cooler, etc would be BARE MINIMUM , if not a 3/4 ton if its gona be a tow vehicle. if you ever plan on driving on anything but dry pavement, make sure it has a limited slip rear as well

 

of course fords are the best..that goes without saying

i tow around 4-5k pounds regularly with my 2 valve 5.4 f150 and it handles it great, the one thing lacking is suspension, hit some rough road and the trailer throws the truck around a bit, not sure what a fully loaded 21ft toy hauler weighs but you might be in 3/4 territory

 

pleas tell me the "1/4 ton "truck" idea was a joke!?

You buy what you can afford and what you like. If you gotta haul something, then make sure it can tow/haul it first.

Well, I was looking at Chevy today and am considering pulling the trigger on one. The Toy hauler is not a guarantee but very possible. I think a 21 footer would be fine behind a 2500 or F250.
