Excessive smoke, oil dripping from exhaust...HELP !

Recommended Posts

Hi, just rebuild my engine from bottom to the top.... After every parts was back in place, then everything was cleaned, my Banshee start after 3 kicks. Then I realize that there was so much smoke and oil that was not burned. I've dropped my gas from the tank and made a new ratio oil/gas 1:40. That move dind't change anythings. My new mods from the last build up are : Head milling, timing +4 (degree key). My opinion could be that there a leak somewhere in the top end. What could it be ?

The lack of exhaust O rings will not make it smoke. My vote is a crank seal improperly installed or damaged during assembly. A leakdown test should show this.

Oh ok well just a idea just have had this problem before just like to look at things from a different angle .

Could it be an improper jetting due the change of the combustion chamber by milling the head, because, when I turn my gas cup off, the engine begin to idle correctly ?!?

I only have few mods like : Pro Circuit pipe, Boost bottle, open box with K&N, timing +4, and head milling. My main is a 280, my pilot is a 27.5 , Elevation is 78 M (256 ft.)

Just arrived to the garage and change the needle clip to the top one on my both carb to get my engine more lean. I think my problem is jetting. Now, I can get more RPM, but my plug still black of oil. I'll try to change my pilot and my main. Witch jet could I put ?

If you've got pipes on it, leave the 27.5 pilots in the carbs, and set your air mixture screws on both carbs at 1.5-2 turns open. Make sure both are adjusted the same. It will take it about 20-30 seconds to adjust. If it's running good, and is still smoking bad, and/or dripping oil from the silencers, it's probably time to repack them.
