does any one know if these guys are still around? I have a red banshee that is JD built, and i would really like to get in contact with J.D racing to ask them a couple questions about the bike. I've heard they were really big in the 90's but, i cant even find a website of theirs. If anyone knows their website or something please let me know

If you are talking about the JD Racing that used to be in Hillsboro Oregon, then the only people that did their porting were Jim Dunken or a guy by the name of Chad. They also had a guy named Bill the was pretty good at setting up suspension, and a few different guys that worked the counter and were general teardown and assembly guys. They are long gone, since about 1998 or 1999.They are so old that they never had a website. Jim had a hand in the design of the Toomey T5 pipes, Stuart Toomey met with him to discuss how JD Racing was modifying T3s and incorporated some of those ideas into the T5s. They built some of the fastest bikes around in the 90s, but it was just a side business for Jim. he had a day job and did the porting at night and had other people run the shop during normal business hours. He started having problems finding reliable help to run the shop so he closed it. Louie Swan(Sr.) used to be a customer of his until he started Twister. On occasion I would help out around the shop to get stuff tore down or put together to get it out.Jim was selling Harleys for a while and then he was a salesman at the Motorsport Outlet in Hillsboro the last time I talked to him, he was talking about moving to the Oregon Dunes and opening an independent shop and the last couple of times I was into Motorsports somebody new was sitting at his desk, so he may have moved on.He totally got out of building Banshees. I used to have access to contact him at home, but his number has changed and I can no longer get ahold of him.

The owner of the bike who also build it said its a 4mm bike, and not just ported. So i wanted to double check on that

Then take the head off and check. Or look to see if there is a spacer.

Pretty easy man, then you know.

Just look with your eyes to see if there is a spacer or not between the cyls and upper case half or even between the head and cyls for that matter.

If not then pull the head and measure how far the pistons come out the top of the cyls if they do.

Only way you will know what you have 100%.

If i ever bought a bike that was claimed to be this and that inside, first thing i would do when i got home was tear it apart so then i would know to give the guy i got it from 2 thumbs up or 2 punches to the balls. :D

I know Ronnie did porting for Jim, he built a motor for me their. Louie Swan was the guy who painted most of the JD bikes, he wasn't just a customer.

I never heard of this Ronnie guy in all the time I hung around the shop and went riding with Jim, but yes you are right about Louie, he was doing most if not alll of JD's paint work including other customer's bikes. I am not arguing about this Ronnie guy, I am just saying that I never met him in all the time I spent at JD Racing which was considerable.
