bansheeqc
I usually run yamaha or honda trans oil on my trail banshee and ATF type F on my drag banshee. But a friend of mine told me to use 10w30 or 5w20 standard motor Oil on stock banshee tranny. I do a couple of research on the forum and find a couple of topic, but not exactly what i want. I want to know if the standard motor will may hurt something. I know motor oil contain detergent, may have problem with this? 10w30 or 5w20 for trail riding and open log road riding? How often for Oil change? I have a gallon or so of castrol GTX 10w30 in my garage, this oil probably do the job? thank you

jayzx10r
The key checkpoint is to look for the symbol/icon that states your 10-30 oil is "Energy Saving." I believe that all 10-30 auto oil is this type. If it is, DO NOT use it because it has friction modifiers that can affect your wet multi-plate clutch. 10-40 is good to use though. A lot of people use automotive oil for the trans because it's usually changed with frequency...it should be fine.
GrMeyer
I just buy the cheapest oil i can put my hands on from walmart. I run ATF-F for the past three years and after a rebuild. The trans looked like new. Clutch wear was fine after 4 years of hard duning. Put in an HD clutch and still have been going strong for 2 years. TIM LUTZ
Guess I'll put in my 2 cents. BelRay Gearsaver, Good stuff, time tested, Thick in the winter,. Don't ice race w/gearsaver. Castrol GTX, used it in a 1150 drag bike I had and it foamed real bad, never used it again. ATF, Well it's made for clutches, ball and needle bearings and high load and high heat. Works great in any 2 stroke gearbox especially in the winter. Amsoil Super shift synthetic racing ATF, THE BEST SHIT you can put in a 2 stroke gearbox. Automotive synthetic like Mobil 1, Don't use. Clutches will slip.
