jayzx10r
It isn't so much that the stock exhaust is restrictive but more that it is not an optimized design. Sure, the silencers could be more open, but the chamber design is terrible from a high performance point-of-view. Simply changing out the stock exhaust for something as inexpensive as a set of (even used) FMF Fattys, removing the lid from the airbox, and changing the jetting will make a world of difference. Simply reducing some restriction from the stock exhaust won't yield a huge gain IMHO. Welcome to the BHQ!!

banshee67
some guys on here were talking about the ultimate sleeper. saying that there is a ton of restrictive crap inside the pipe body. and they claimed after removing the innards, they put it up against an fmf pipe and the stocker had only 3 less horse than the fmf. then milling and reshaping the head along with a port job. this is just what i have heard on a older thread. i really dont know what the pipe can actially do but i would love to know so keep us updated if you start tearing into your project

Seriously, I'd bet money that wouldn't be the case. On top of that, pipe design is about power delivery and you can tell a lot from looking at a pipe. The stockers are designed to be mediocre at best...OK in a variety of conditions for a stock motor but considered terrible from a modder's POV. All midrange that signs off early to be used in conjunction with a restricted intake (airbox) isn't the ticket for a sleeper. Now paining a set of performance pipes black, running a black Chariot Racing head, stuffing a ported 4mil in the frame and not polishing any aluminum is a good start for a sleeper.... It had chambers and baffel type crap inside? I cut it all out and welded it back togeather. The guy I did it for said it made a big difference. I never cut open shee pipes . I have a nice set of stock pipes that I could trade for your Cheetah motor... I have heard from a old RZ350 racer that there is also some stuff inside the stock RZ pipes that should be removed. Helps alot of top end power. I´m going to do that after the snow comes. I think I can chop the stock Banshee pipes with pic´s but I can´t test them in anytime soon. -Pasi S. camatv
most sets on ebay are piced out and i really dont feel like spending 100 bucks+ for a set that i should be able to find locally. also i guess your just not understanding what a sleeper is. any yahoo with black cpi pipes and flat black painted cub/ cheeta/ VITO's is easy to see and NOT a sleeper in my book. its a broke ass build. ah well i'll find a set and really i'm just curious. and i have the ability to play with a set. Snopczynski
This has to be one of the more worthless threads on here. Gutting a set of stock pipes is a shitty idea, its a waste of time.

I think NYUK has 4 decent sets of used pipes right now for cheap. Cheaper than it would probably be than to buy stockers and modify them.
