banshee67
my whole family runs the toomeys 4 through 6. i run the six but is completely stock. if you get it jetted it runs great for all around. if your wanting too stay stock then get the t 6. they have more power than the t5 in stock form. the t 5s like bigger mods more than the t 6s. now we trial ride ride dunes and even raced flat track. they are a great all around pipe. toomey first started in 1987 when the banshee first debuted . so its like an original piece. midlifecrisis
First off Thank you for your service to our country. Congrats on your find your a lucky guy. If it was me I would go with Pro Circuit pipes. IMHO they are the best trail all around pipe there is they have a great low end and pull to the top. A lot of guys on the site run them and love them I'm sure some of them will chime in. After you get them pipes on there you should advance the timing 4 degrees. You can pick up a timing plate from Jeff @ FAST Hes a site sponser and one awesome engine builder. When your ready for it to be ported he would be the man to call. Good luck on the new wheelers and welcome to the best Banshee site around. OK, so everything he said! I run Pro Circuit Platinums on my bike, its an 01, and it sounds like nothing else I have ever owned, just not sure about whether they are OK on govt trails due to spark arrestor specs?. I agree 100% that the first and one of the easiest mods is a timing plate at +4, but I didnt see anyone recomend theClymer or Haynes manual. I dont care what anyone says, the single most important investment you will make is your manual. I am not anoverly mechanical person, but I have built this bike from scratch because of these guys here on this site, and my manual. Hell you can hardly see some of the pages anymore. I had a good buddy try my shee up north at a track were building. This is the first weekend that I have ever ridden it, as I have been building it for months. He came back to where we were all standing and he was shaking. He said that it was the absolute craziest thing that he had ever ridden, and he never got out of 3rd. Youve made a great decision buying a banshee, welcome to the site man!
RagunCajun
From the recommended pipes, find a used set to save you some money. Then when you are ready to sow d some money, do suspension. Trails suck on stock banshee suspension. You don't need any other parts for exhaust. Just the complete ehaus and two main jets. Hell, few a few sets and work your way leaner till you get it right. Thanks for serving our country !
bigtizzles
After all the stuff i've read online and you guys responses, I think i'm probably gonna go with the FMF fattys and power core 2 silencers. They seem to be about the best price. Close second would be the Toomey t5 pretty close pricewise and i've found them in kits with jets included. Alot of people said they couldn't really tell the difference between the 2, and they seem to both be reguarded as a good all around pipe. What do ya think?? AKheathen
remember, almost everyone is going to say the pipe they have is the best, or super duper great, at least, unless they reallly don't like them. the fatty and t-5's are mid-top pipes, if that's what you want. RagunCajun
I disagree. T5's are a midrange pipe IMO. Same for t6 pipes. Cpi's are more mid-top. I've had all 3. And again I'd find a used set of whatever you want.
bigtizzles
I just want something trail-able without sacrificing that top end for the occasional drag race or open dirt road. Still perform well in an MX environment. Just real well rounded.
RagunCajun
It's a banshee, it's still gonna pull hard on top end. Good luck with your choice.
Jereme6655
also don't forget that EVERY banshee winds up jetting differently. i can have the same setup you have and mine might like a different main-jet. its just how it is haha....but it keeps you wrenching on your own stuff and that's how you find problems... and you WILL need to change your pilot jets along with your main jets. the pilot jets you should need are 27.5 pilots. mysterion
Thanks guys. I think i'm gonna like it here. Just got her some fresh gas for the weekend. I'll let you know what i decide. Anybody else wants to chime in, my ears are open for suggestions. I am in the same boat. I just got my firstt shee a few weeks ago, an 06 SE that is completely bone stock. Most of my riding is in trails ,woods, and open fields as well. I just ordered some Boyesen Power Reeds and some T5's (I feel the addiction growing ) In the future, I am probably going to do some porting, milling, etc. For now, any suggestions in what I should do in the short term?? Thanks
