figuare9 Posted July 10, 2010 Report Share Posted July 10, 2010 I've heard not to go through trinity, so I'm now asking you guys for help. 6 Years on the shee motor, and it's running about 93 on the compression test. . . Sad right? Supposed to be around what 140 ish? (Stock) I can't complain though. Never had a 4 stroke last this long in my life. Blew my 450 up in 3 months. Can't seem to pop the 350 dually! I've decided to rebuild it, before something breaks. If I'm rebuilding, I want a +4. Exactly what parts do I need? Where do I start? etc. Do I need a new head? any porting? jetting, etc. Even if you can give me links to each part I need would be great. I've read the thread here of why trinity's bad, so where else would I buy a stroker kit? or the parts that I need. I would get them through who ever does your porting. They will know what size of domes are needed for there port work for running a spacific fuel. Different port jobs respond differently so you might need a little smaller or larger dome. Porting not required it will run but it wont be near as fast as it could be. A ported stock stroke banshee will be a lot faster than a non ported 4 mill, so I would say it is required. There is no better time to do porting than when your doing a top end. Who you go through that choice is going to be up to you. There are a lot of good builders on here and I dont think you would be un happy with any of them. I would recomend Jeff at FAST, but he is going to be closed until july 22. I'll probably get a hold of FAST and see what they can do for me. I'm worried about reliability though too. Just because I want a fast machine, doesn't mean I'm willing to sacrifice hp for reliability. I've got 6 years on this motor and it still runs like a champ, I just think it's time to do a rebuild. It's nice knowing that when my friends come back up north where I live, I can go turn the key, and kick it twice and have a nice running machine. What kind of problems may I have as far as reliability with a +4 with a woods porting job and cool head? Has anyone run these for a long time? I typically ride almost every day for at least a little while, and normally on weekends all day. I really really don't want to spend over a grand to have it run amazing for a month and have issues. Not that I'm saying it will, but I'm worried about leaving stock stock settings for aftermarket ones. Bottom line question is what kind of reliability will I have with a stroker? jbooker82 Posted July 10, 2010 Report Share Posted July 10, 2010 You shouldnt see any loss in reliability. The long rod 4 mill has conecting rods that are 5 mill longer than the oem ones. This helps reduce the side load on the piston skirts. The cool head will be fine as long as you dont pinch an o ring when you install it. I reuse the orings when I have taken mine appart. There is a dune ported 4mill top end for sale in the classifides. He was asking 375 for the cylinders, and domes. I believe one piston was bad. Larry's Shee Posted July 10, 2010 Report Share Posted July 10, 2010 +4 crank,pistons ,rings, pin, pin bearing. pin circlips ,fresh bore, crankseals ( might do all seals) , stroker domes for coolhead or rechambered stock head , complete gasket set unless you go cool head, Yamabond for cases, flywheel puller.
