Reeds ?

Recommended Posts

They are designed differently.

V force 2's are a gray reed cage with a purple tag. There reeds are held in place by metal screws and have a flat metal strap that holds them down. You can flip the metal strap over to make the reeds low or high tension. Most guys said to leave them on high tension other wise the reeds don't last long. The opeaning in to the reed cage is square.

Vforce 3's are the newest design. They have a black reed cage with yellow and silver sticker on the sides. you cannot adjust the tension. The reed cage just snaps together so there are no small metal screws to come loose. They have a small round opening that matches the stock intake boots nicely. You can buy a reed stuffer from cascade that allows you to remove the factory stuffer. It makes the reed cage have a giant square opeaning. I would only use them if your running an aftermarket intake that has a square opening. Otherwise port the factory stuffer to match the round intake.

Ok cool thanks. I guess I have the 2s. Is there much of a gain switching over to the 3s? Or is it just a better design. I hear from everyone the 3s are some of the best but unless I will notice a big difference I can't see spending the money on them. Also does changing the tension change the performance of it at all. If so which is better as far as performance.

Ah that's what I was thinking too. I've already got a cool head with 19cc domes so I figured I would run it like this for alittle while and see how I like it then later in the season send my cylinders out to fast to get them ported. I was going to do it this year but when I spoke with him he was saying he was alittle backed up and I wouldn't get them back for quite some time. Or if money is righti might just switch over to a 4mil this winter. Who knows.
