dajogejr
Ported and override is going to go over the budget...and I don't think he's going to have the power needed for an override with what he wants to do. A dyna is only good if you spend the time on the dyno setting up the curve to your particular motor....IMO.
stockbeast
Port it. We're trying to tell you you're asking us to give you whipped cream on top of horse shit. You can do what you want...but those stock pipes are holding you back. Port it....but don't be surprised if the increase is only nominal. Engines are an air pump. The more air you get in and get out...and more efficiently you do that, the better it'll run. When you're chocking it down with stock exhaust...there's not a whole lot more point in trying to make it run faster. Ok thats what I was trying to figure out so stock pipes are not good for anything I thought they were better for bottom end but after doing some searching I figured out they suck everywhere in the rpm range other low to mid range pipes increase power not only down low but up n the upper rpms as well I will switch them I think those PT pipes look kinda stockish if you were to get them in black. I think the casual observer may not even notice if they only glanced at them. maybe attach the stock heat guard... yea I could pass those off as stock............. paul turners with the heat gaurds and run the stock silencers didnt think of that thanks will pts hook to the factory mid pipes or silencers?? Like stated above. Have it ported for stock pipes. You cant see porting. LOL. Advance the timing to plus 4, shave head, mabey put a diff ignition on it. Dynatech, big gun?? get some old beatup black toomeys, pt's or fmfs or whatever. If you dont want to port it get the Vitos superstock pistons. Great piston for the power gains you will get. hey alf I already have vitos pistons, Adj. timing plate, dyna coil, and milled head. what else is there as far as bolt ons?? what kind of intake manifolds are available for the stock carbs?? so I need to get some paul turner pipes painted black are the pro circuits a better low mid than the pts?? What other setup do I need for the drags for more traction off the line and low end torque from the motor?? How are the dunlop or othsu radials for drags in loose dirt Thanks for the help guys
locogato11283
without pipes i dont see how youre going to gain anything. porting allows for more efficient air flow. whats the point of having more efficient air flow in the cylinders if the pipes cant clear the exhaust fast enough? bode1
I rode mine for like a year with stock pipes and then I got T-5s. Wow what a difference. I goty mine ported a year and a half ago, and wow what a difference. again, Wish I had done at least the pipes the day I bought it. Just get pipes and porting now, you won't regret it. If you really want a sleeper, like I said, the PT pipes in black could be mistaken for stock, maybe do a 4mil with the stock head cut., but you're gonna be over budget. But just do yourself a favor and get at least pipes and porting now, you won't regret it.
sandman81
I guess ill be the dick here. Sleeper drag bike. Dude thats just simply retarded. You think your having problems hooking, just wait till you start making more power. With what you have done know if you port and buy some good pipes forget it, shit gonna slid all over the place. How much you weigh? If you dont weigh shit and you get it to hook your gonna have problems keeping it down with the stock swing arm. And as for trying to pass some after market pipes painted black for stocks, thats just retard for thinking that. Only guy your gonna fool is someone who's never seen a banshee in his life. Sorry but your buddies are not gonna buy the stock bike story, unless there flat out stupid. Dude im just keeping it real.
stockbeast
sand I hear ya everthing you said is right last banshee I had Quad Central dune port + 6 timing and shearer in frames stock swinger and othsu radials I weigh 140 didnt wheely just spun all the time. I couldnt get it to hook. but didnt really work on the setup much. just the motor........ anyways I am not trying to race against drag bikes with what I am calling a sleeper. I am racing stock 450s and raptors and there is a stock class at the local 300ft drag strip. My original post should have read like this rather than sleeper drag bike .................................................................................. Can someone help me with setting up a motor to work on my bike that has stock swingarm for racing the 300ft drags. I am not looking for high peak numbers but mainly to keep the same powerband as a stock bike maybe even lower the sweet spot a couple hundred rpms just to increase the power in that rpm range. Thats why I was going to keep the stock pipes to tame it down in the higher rpms and keep the hit on the power soft just increase the power with other mods that way it is more controllable. The reason behind something so stupid is because I like the length of the stock swingarm for the other riding that I do like some mx and field riding. But dragging is my favorite type of riding so I am looking for the best drag setup for the motor to work with the stock chassis. like I said trying to beat the the fucking 4 pokes So sand you sound like you know what you are talking about what would you do to get the best performance on the dragstrip with the stock swinger and 140 pound rider. Keep in mind that I dont have to have the newest or fastest thing out I was happy with my banshee bone stock. god I fucking love my banshee I just really like drag racing the thing and really dont want a purpose built dragger. but I also dont want to keep getting beat by the four strokes thanks for all the help there is alot of banshee knowledge here at banshee hq
stockbeast
here I will make it even easier WHAT MODS WILL GIVE MORE TORQUE AND WONT RAISE THE POWERBAND AND ARENT STROKE OR BORE???????????LOL
alf44
If u just want more torque put a 12t front sprocket on advance the timing to +4 get a set of boysen power reeds and launch that bitch in second gear pinned and hold on.
stockbeast
LOL alf I just ordered the reeds from ya this week...........I modded my stock timing plate I didnt know you sold them for 30 dollars last one I bought was 90...... but thats a good idea a 12 tooth sprocket I'll take one pm sent for the sprocket
dajogejr
We've mentioned porting over and over again. Is there a reason you're not picking up on that? If you're asking us to make your bike a bolt on world beater it flat out will not happen...period. Bolt ons will give you up to 10HP, give or take. That alone is nothing compared to the weight and power ratio, not to mention the torque, these new 450s are putting down.

I beat on stock and some modded Banshees all day long with my all stock YFZ450. They make good power, get the power to the ground and have decent top end even in stock form. Out of the hole they are pretty quick due to lack of wheel spin. In most cases, it takes a fairly decent modded Banshee to win a race with one. I dont understand why some of these guys ask for an opinion and then they argue with you over it. Dude the Banshee gods are talking and you just aint listening. Give Jeff @ FAST a call and he'll school ya. Split a stock pipe down the middle and you'll see why everybody is telling what they are telling you. RagunCajun
My bike is a sleeper imo. It's a 4mil on stock cylinders. Has an override. Geared for drag racing. Stock swingarm. However, rolling on pro wedge 2's(needed for traction) isnt fooling anyone. And when my bike goes up against 4 stroke drag bikes, my bike gets owned. stockbeast
not looking for a world beater here is a quote from a couple posts ago "Keep in mind that I dont have to have the newest or fastest thing out I was happy with my banshee bone stock. god I fucking love my banshee I just really like drag racing the thing and really dont want a purpose built dragger. but I also dont want to keep getting beat by the four strokes thanks for all the help there is alot of banshee knowledge here at banshee hq" I am thinking pipes and porting will just raise the powerband and cause even more spin. Would just a mx or cleanup port give me more power just not make it come on later??? cuz I have had a dune port before and it made stupid power really high. which made me no faster in the 300ft with the rest of the bike being stock. I was getting beat when it was bone stock just a little and now have some shit done vitos pistons advanced timing lower gearing better tires pods more compression I havent raced it this way yet still waiting on some parts I was just looking for anything else that I could do for some more low end or if there was anything else that I missed I will post back with some times after I finish some shit and get back to the track thanks
