ionroller Posted June 3, 2010 Report Share Posted June 3, 2010 I have a 87 that is almost stock and the clutch has started to slip, will a $50 ebay kit work good? and can i do it through the cover or do i have to take the whole side pannel off? fastbanshee8 Posted June 3, 2010 Report Share Posted June 3, 2010 Chances are, the clutch is toasted, if it's been slipping for several days. You'll have to remove the whole side cover to change the clutch, and you'll need a new clutch cover gasket. What brand is the eGay clutch? T_Shee Posted June 3, 2010 Report Share Posted June 3, 2010 does your perch have some free play to it? if there is no free play then you prollly just need adjustment. make sure you can pull in on the lever a half inch or so before you feel resistance. tusk is a pretty good clutch i wouldnt hesitate to run one unless its a higher power motor Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

TNTS355 Posted June 4, 2010 Report Share Posted June 4, 2010 make sure you read your Clymers on how to adjust the clutch before putting on the cover. If you dont you will have to take the cover off again and adjust it. if you are new to working on banshee's, nitronate has a good video for working on shee's. toytech Posted June 4, 2010 Report Share Posted June 4, 2010 i would say check the oil. if it started slipping are the oil change then that might be the cause. should have used ATF. some oils have friction modifiers in them and they are not good for a clutch. he used the amsoil 4 stroke oil for wet clutches should be ok, I've used that with no problem Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
