thegod81
Hey fellas going to to Breezewood proving grounds in PA this weekend. I have elka front shocks and stock rear. What tools do I need to adjust my suspension? I am a heavier guy and want to adjust my bike for the best setup. Also I saw a guy spray a can of something on his chain and rear brake disc before he hit the track once, what was that can and how does it help? Please offer any helpful advise you have for me about the track and preparing. Thanks

hercalmighty
For the springs you will need an allen head and something that will fit the little holes in the collar so you can turn it. For the other adjustments you shouldn't need anything but a small flat head at most.
Skidmark
number one rule, know the track. Dont get stupid and think you can keep up with everybody. If you ride outside of your limits your gonna get hurt. Take it slow and get comfortable, thats probably the best thing to do even before suspension tuning. bansheesrtoys
your elka should have came with the tools and a book on how to adjust them for what you want , they want about 7.5 to 9" of ground clearnce when you are sitting on it. and the rear should be about 1/4 to 3/4 on an inch lower than the front, that is what my elka book says.as far as comp n rebound well that all trial and error, what works for me may not work for you. best to start in the middle and see if you are bottoming out or boucning around.if bottoming out turn the comp dail to the H one click at a time and don't leave it in the middle of a click make one full click then ride it don't bounce on it because it not the same as you riding it. if you are to feel to bouncy then you want to increasethe rebound to slow it down. you don't want it to stiff but at the same time you don't want to bottom out .
