Loc Posted May 30, 2010 Report Share Posted May 30, 2010 I had my bike rebuilt last fall. I had the cylinders ported, cases port matched, crank trued and welded and topend rebuilt. I ran two tanks of gas for the brake in and then have ran 3 more tanks of fuel in it. I have it jetted just a little rich. I was riding along and the left piston exploded. Stop the bike instantly tow it back to the truck. I have metal shavings in the pipe, cylinder and in the cases. It is all taken apart and I find that my rod bearing have alot of play to them and think that is what caused the failure. When you rebuild your engine do you usually put in new rod bearing. My builder said he doesn't if the old ones look good. I am going to rebuild the engine and need to know what all I should look at replacing and where is the best place to buy the parts. fastbanshee8 Posted May 30, 2010 Report Share Posted May 30, 2010 No the bearing that attaches the rod to crank. The only way to replace that bearing is to have the crank rebuilt, or buy a new crank.
