Since my early days of riding (Blaster), i always wanted a Banahee. I originally went with a Raptor only to find out after riding it 2 or 3 times that the 4 stroker just didnt feel like a bikke that was for me. I sold it and got a Banshee. Ive been spending my days restoring it and trying to make it look like the day it came out the assembly line. So little bye little im sleaning her up and swiping used parts that dont look that good for new ones. Im the type of person that likes my toys to be in really good condition. Only problem is that everytime i go to the local cycle shop 10 minutes away from my house to grab something, they either dont have it or dont show too much interest in ordering it for me either. Alot of times they tell me to get it from the internet, that it will be cheaper. Other times i just feel like they dont show much interest in wanting to deal with me and my Banshee. I feel like i bought into a bike that a dying breed. Do u guys think that in the near future we will have a hard time even getting parts for this bike? And are some of u guys going through something similair. P.S. I love my Banshee and if in the future im forced to buy another bike, my Shee will still have a home in my garage. dunner250 Posted May 27, 2010 Report Share Posted May 27, 2010 I think in 30+ years it will be hard to get parts, but not now. When I go down to the dunes it seems like every 3rd bike is a banshee. And I still see lots for 250r and lt250's down there, and they haven't made those for about 20 years. Scotty Posted May 27, 2010 Report Share Posted May 27, 2010 I think a lot of it has to do with what they train/teach their employees at bike shops. 2 strokes just arnt in the employees handbook anymore. speedcrazyshee Posted May 28, 2010 Report Share Posted May 28, 2010 in my opinion if the shop does not want to help. find a new shop to deal with. some people just dont want to be bothered to look for the parts we need. i have shops like that around me. i have a yamaha dealer 1 mile from my door but i drive almost 15 to the shop i deal with. they will bend over backwards to find what i need. find a shop you like and stick with them for all you can. i have spent so much at my local shop that i am to the point where i pay dealer cost on all that i buy. and with the amount of money that we spend on our shees it dont take long to start seeing deals. the shee is far from a dying breed. you can get anything for them if you are just willing to look. ATC250R (85/86)parts can still be found pretty easy if you're in tune with the atv world(glamis321 brought it up). Does anyone know how many sheea were sold from 87 to 06? Now my wifes 85 Kawi Tecate 3....now thats a whole other story! The tecates are tough to find parts for but parts are out there. T_Shee Posted May 28, 2010 Report Share Posted May 28, 2010 as far as shops are concerned i would say it is somewhat regional. anywhere near the dunes im sure the shops will be more banhsee friendly. but here in central IN the local dealerships arent good for much banshee related. there are 3 shops within 7 miles of my house and i cant go buy a bottle of klotz super techniplate from any of them. went to the honda shop tonight and the only decent 2 stroke they had was castor 927 for almost 20 bucks a bottle. and as far as actual parts that are made for a banshee you may as well forget it. i dont have a problem ordering from online sources but sometimes it would be nice to be able to go grab a clutch cable or something like that without having to wait 3-6 days.
