bigblockbanshee
What exactly are you inquiring about, the place where you've had a piston decapitation and the pieces have scarred the area around the crank (I don't know what the specific term for that area is lol) or the place where it's all chipped off? I would say the area around the crank is fine, just needs smoothed up a bit as it's most common. The chipped area needs welded and either carefully filed or re-machined IMHO. But I'm a novice, what do I know.
Larry's Shee
Was this motor running previous? You would be hard pressed to use them. At least the damage isn't on the main sealing surface. If you are on a real tight budget and not a high power build you could give it a shot. Use a smooth mill file to carefully take down the high spots working slowly and carefully. Worst you'ld be out couple of gaskets. If you do try to use them do a leakdown test before you even fire it up. JMHO , your results may vary. Might want to smooth up where it looks like a blown rod damage.
AKheathen
just replace them......i'm sure there is some in the for sale section.....there ususally is. i wouldn't trust them since, i'm pretty sure that chipped area keeps that side square, and the other damage could have stressed/cracked in a way you can't see. troyzstang
Thanks for your replys guys. The cases came from a rolling Project I bought for $ 250.00 I basically bought a complete roller with the motor apart and in boxes. I guess the deal may have been to good to be true Oh well "live and learn"
Larry's Shee
But even if you spend $150 for a set of cases you have a cheap start on a project.
