Adjustable timing plate

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I am looking into installing an adjustable timing plate on my shee, i was told that its a pretty good and cheap power upgrade to the bike. The only thing is, Im not too sure about it. Will it affect the reliability of my motor or affect it in any way? Is it hard to install? Which ones are better? Any tips, info or experience would be very helpful. Let me know what u guys think.

Thanks,

Eddie.

In my opinion an adjustable timing plate is one of the best bang for your buck mods you can do, and will increase your low-mid range power. I wouldn't go any more than +4 on an otherwise stock-ish motor. As far as reliability goes, maybe one of the motor builders can chime in here, or someone who's had theirs at +4 longer than me. Just make sure you use the right tool to pull off the flywheel. No 3-jaw pullers... no other creative way. Buy the flywheel puller from FAST and do it right. Other than that it's pretty straightforward. Just make sure you set your pickup gap when you're all done. Should be the thickness of a 16pt business card. Good luck!

I set my pickup gap at .017, which someone said on here. I had it at .020 and I really felt the difference. I would recommend the chariot performance timing plate, that thing is a beast!

The chariot is a really nice piece. I just bought one and put it on. When you are pulling the flywheel, when it comes loose it will pop really loudly like you broke something. I didn't expect it so don't worry. Get an impact screwdriver too. It might save you some headache on those phillips head screws.
