AKheathen
i said read the books to get your calculations, and an idea on angles, timning, and such, not find a short-cut out of it. i bet there is 50 more things in there that you should not do to a banshee engine. didn't you post about using a power piston and get the answer about scalloping? and then you have this idea to mess up a set of cylinders and rig up a bunch of machine work with the spacer, insted of just making the cut. if you put half the effort into how you are going to approach and carry out the cuts, you could make it happen for yourself. also, i bet you can get someone, probably the guy you had look at the cyls, to cut just the roofs cheap....and i think i have said that before. agbell, will get you a good idea on how stuff works, but jennings will get you ready for porting, and you already have the answers to what the banshee likes....you just need to move your focus from how to pick out some shortcuts that might work with the recources you have, and derive a way to do it right, which may just be 1/2 the effort, anyways. that is why i'm callin you a dummy. no one, but an experienced banshee cyl porter, or info derrived from them is going to get you a hold-hand walkthrough, or they would loose buisiness. "actually tried to help".......um, yah, about that. i know that i have personally more than helped you in and out of your threads....and that is why it bothers me.......have you ever even thrown those cyls on there since that post before?............well, good luck with your new venues.....mabey a moody little prick will throwy a # or 2 your way if you decide to follow through

I just hate the thought of touching the transfer roofs. And I realize cutting the piston crown will jack up your squish, but the question is are the gains worth it...? Anyway I probably should post less topics of this nature but hell, it's all free information and what's the worst that can happpen? I should probably spend more time reading Jennings book but my goodness he writes like a mechanical engineer and I would need a scripp of Adderall to keep up with him for longer than 2 paragraphs. And no I haven't slapped 'em on yet. I'm in Colorado for about 3 more months for work, and I apparently have too much time on my hands because I've entertained a whole bunch of ideas as far as what I will build when i get home. SLORYDER
F those PT P.O.S. pipes. I just rode and then outran a 421 cub with those pipes on it. What a dog. My little FAST ported stock cyl stoker walked all over it. You are a silly little man. Either you are running drag ported cylinders with drag pipes or the cub wasn't set up properly. PT HI-Rev>T-

PT HI-Rev>T-5 I would take T-5s ALL day long over PTs high revs. PTs look good but that's about it.
papa_smurf49319
never ran t5's or high revs but the girl had a set of pt mids on her bike and they ran damn hard. Also cascade seems to like the pts quite a bit to. But i think for a drag pipe i would ONLY be looking at shearer or cpi. Cody

PT HI-Rev>T-5 Silly? I'm not the one who comes on here spouting out info on porting and then crying about actually doing the porting. THATS silly! Dune\Play port and T-5's. Yeah maybe the cub wasnt setup right, but thats not my problem. Point is, it got beat by my banshee, which begs me to ask: How does yours run again? T-5's for the win! Profilact
BTW - ANY cub with PT's on it IS NOT SET UP PROPERLY!

Dude, You chase your tail as much as I do, I know the thought of doing it all yourself sounds like a fun, but you will ruin a few jugs before you are happy with what you did. + you still have to buy the porting equipment and no Harbor Freight does not carry anything that will work for porting. Send your stock jugs to one of the sponcers and then study what they did while your enjoying your ride. If you still have the itch to cut metal buy some jugs off ebay and have at them. Then swap them on the bike and see how you did. B

T-5's for the win! Actually I can and will do the porting. If I could have gone an easier route like cutting the crown or using a spacer I was willing to at least try and learn something about it. Bragging about beating someone whose bike isn't running right is just stupid. I guess next you are going to be telling people that cubs suck because you beat one. A cub that is jetted right, chassis set up right, right tires with PT Hi-Revs will stomp on your bike with T-5's any day of the week. BTW - ANY cub with PT's on it IS NOT SET UP PROPERLY! I'm not an engine builder but I am almost certain PT Hi-revs would be a better match for the longer port durations of the cub than t-5's would. What do you think people used for drag pipes before all these other pipes were so avalible, myself included? O yea cut t-3s and T-5s when they came out. I know T-5's are good pipes but I'm going to have to go for HI revs the higher durations.
dajogejr
Port timings are a good place to start. The guys that make good power figure out the shape/angle and how to get the charge in/out more efficiently with the same numbers as others... That's the secret...and no one will tell you how/what they do. I certainly commend you for wanting to try this on your own...on the other side of the coin none of the best builders in the country ever picked up a set of cylinders and hit the nail on the head the first time. They got better, and better.... Good luck...let us know how it turns out.
Larry's Shee
You need to read like an engineer , to think like one , to design like one . I have read it several times and still only understand 50%. Still more informative than Bell.
