Valin
I installed a yzf450 front end on my shee last year. When I did it, I installed the 450 steering arms that came with the a-arms. They measure 12.25" long. I find that I was out of adjustment on the rod ends, and my wheels were still toed out slightly. I also didn't like how the camber was on the tires, so I picked up a set of YZF450 spindles and hubs. I installed them tonight, and it made the issue worse. I am totally out of adjustment, and I am nowhere near having my wheels straight. I am beginning to think that the steering arms I have are not the 450 arms. Can someone tell me how wide the 450 steering arms are please. Mine are the newer style with the larger threaded tie rods. What steering rods are you guys running? alf44
My tierods are custom made ones that came with the front end I got from BBCmudtruck. Grizzly 700 tierods will work also like Drewski uses. Heres some pics of mine. http://bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=129048

Valin
Thanks Shakar. What are you guys running for tie rods who have a 450 front end?
someone82
I was running the tie rods that speedy332 used to make and they are 13 5/8" long. Now I'm just running mini sprint radius rods with 3/8" heims. Works like a champ. I know Grizzly 700 tie rods and mod quad's +2 Banshee tie rods work

madjimmax
Your tierods should be like 13 5/8". You can pick a set up on ebay for about $30 just look for +2 banshee tierods and you'll be set. Alf can also probably hook you up with some modquad ones pretty cheap, I picked mine up off ebay I got a set of LSR stainless steel ones for $40 NIB. Valin
I'd like to, but the only tie rod ends i have are larger than the Banshee rods.....they are for the '06+ YZF450, so I need to find rods that fit those ends, since I recently bought brand new ones for them. Thanks for the help guys.
Firemann32
OK, I'm looking at doing this mod and I searched and found this thread. As I understand it I have to find some spacers for the actual a-arms (recommendations) and I'll need to either get a set of +2 tierods or but a set for a 700 Grizzly but other than that everything else will swap. What about the brake lines, I'm guessing I'll need to get longer lines correct? All in all is this as good of a setup as just buying a set of +2 arm kit? You are right but make sure you get the whole front end including spindles, hubs and calipers. If your going to use your stock shee spindles its not going to work very well because the ball joints bind up really bad. I've done the swap and I think its great. Ive got about $400 into the swap and thats including a brand new pair of yfz450r shocks. For that kinda price I couldnt say no. I think that you can use your stock hubs, but I didnt and the yfz calipers are two piston instead of one so stopping is a ton better. OH and as far as spacers there use to be a dude on here that made them but all you need is some 3/8" spacers and then cut the lower arms so they fit or just move the a arm mount thats on the frame. locogato11283
stay away from the 450 front end. it belongs on the yfz450. just buy banshee based parts and you will be much happier.

I dont understand why some of you guys are so against this mod. I've done it and love it, And when I compare the ride of my shee with the ride of my buddies shee I dont feel any difference and my buddy has LSR +2 arms and elka shocks the only that I can see between the two is that he paid Over $1500 and I've got a little more then $400 invested. I'm not tyring to argue this with anybody I just dont know why some guys are against this.
