Wheelman Chassis
hey guys, my mods are in my sig. how hard should ihave to pull up on the shifter to get my tranny to shift?? somtimes it shifts good with a moderate pull up, but a few times at silverlake this weekend it seemed like it wouldnt shift or i had to yank real hard up on the shifter...i havent backloaded it hard or anything that i can tell, and its never made any noise or grinding...i need some info in a hurry...ive got to be ready for the hq silver lake ride.... thanks guys chris
tundish2800
do a oil change and make sure you don't have any chunks of metal coming out.
RagunCajun
You arent spinning bad right? If traction is bad, it wont shift. As for your questions, not sure. I just took my shift pro shift kit out. Getting used to the stock feel now which is a lot harder to shift now
locogato11283
youre right on the edge man. you have enough power now that youre going to start having shifting issues. you would absolutely benefit from a duneable override and a lockup. VegasJeff
Did you change to ATF type "F" and install the stock shift star?

The dogs will sometime gets burrs on them that have to be smoothed out, though. I had to take a tranny apart to fix that; but I still had issues when the oil got dirty (ATF type F.) Redline Racing cut mine, i have backloaded mine and it still shifts like butter. I pretty much ride it like a normal trans, except when racing. I love my duneable override, one of the best mods i have ever done to my bike. If it was a fork it seems like it would be hard to shift all the time. locogato11283
i have a 2-4 duneable by Redline Racing and a lockout. i run cheap advance auto parts 10w40 in mine. shifts like butter.
GrayRacing
i ran into this problem b4. its wither wore out forks, or ur just putting pressure on the gear shifter. ive went through 2 or 3 cut trannys, lol
dajogejr
The dunable overrides are very durable if you don't backload the living hell out of them. The few we've had come back were backloaded like a trail bike and the owners fully admitted to that... I've had mine in my 10 mil for 3 seasons...split my cases yesterday and the trans still looks fantastic. If the tranny was cut right, you should have no issues. 80w in an override is definitely a problem. Run 2 full qts of ATF Type F. Change it every other ride.
