jbirdshee Posted April 6, 2010 Report Share Posted April 6, 2010 1) pull up to line 2) wait for green light 3) hold throttle wide open in gear with clutch pulled in 4) when green light pops up, drop the clutch and hold on tight as u shift through gears 5) brake at the end of your designated 300 feet before you hit something you have successfully completed a 300 foot drag race, congratulations! STINKYDELUXE Posted April 6, 2010 Report Share Posted April 6, 2010 I would buy several sprockets front and rear so you have a lot to choose from. try a strut in the rear a least. keep trying new things if you make pass after pass with out changing anything you will get the same result except for a little less gas. camatv Posted April 6, 2010 Report Share Posted April 6, 2010 just play with it till you find something that you like... also the above posts about lining up are nice just creep up to the staging lights and be carefull not to red light BUT dont undercut your light's when comapring slips make wure you factor in your reaction tim into the overall time sometime a few tenths can be due to bad reaction's.. if you have hill raced it will be similar ( except for the hill) and you will probably get boared from sitting around al the time.. the gearing tire combo, swingarm length, suspension or no suspension, frame set up, engine tune, tire choice, reaction times start stuter box engine combo will al play a factor in your times... AlkyGirl Posted April 6, 2010 Author Report Share Posted April 6, 2010 My bike is pretty damn low to the ground right now which rarely keeps me from wheelieing at the dunes. However, I am kinda concerend about keeping it down at the track. I will have to deal with the tire for now since this is a trial run to see if I even like racing the track. I have front sprokets 13-17 and rears 42-46 so I should be good there. Can you guys fill me in on some of the track lingo? Like red lighting and breakingout and all that? If you're serious about hitting the track, you won't gain any time normally with a bar, but you will be able to be consistent. And strut the back end when you go with the wheelie bar...trust me on that one. I'm a big guy (Probably 2 or 3 of you) but I had a Marvin nearly pogo me off the bike and it was at 1500 or 1600 PSI. But for now if you can put a rear strut on that would help with launching. If you wait till you see a green light you will be way slow. Work on timing the light. Depending on the light speed a sportsman tree I go as soon as the third light starts to lit or a pro tree the second you see yellow drop the clutch. DONT BE AFFRAID TO RED LIGHT. Red lighting is when you go to early. If or when you red light don’t worry about it make the pass and get back in line. Staging can be important to stay consistent. At first you will want to stage "shallow". That is as soon as the second light lights up stop don’t go any "deeper". I would say working on all that would make a good first day at the track but if you want to do it right you won't be afraid to change your gearing to see what works best. But really unless your semi constant you won’t know if what you did worked. I would start with just working on having fun and learning to be consistent. You will also want to be careful if you hang around the track to long you will end up broke..... Breaking out is for index or bracket racing. Index is set speeds ALL bikes racing in that index class has to stay between and Bracket you set the time and can’t go any faster or you break out and loss the race. For example in a bracket race if you set your time for 4.5 and the person in the other lane sets his for 5 seconds his light would turn green .5 seconds before yours (be care not to go on his light). It's a give and take situation at the light. Dont keep the other person waiting on you. but at the same time dont rush your self. I would start with no more them 3 psi in the tires and go down from there. If your supper hot, where some skimpy clothing. Everybody will let you pass them. The most inportante thing is to have fun. Lol...if you can cuss and talk shit you should understand what we are saying just fine. Main thing to keep in mind is to just run your race. Ignore everybody in the stands. F*ck the guy waiting for you in the other lane. Just do your own thing and don't rush it. The more nervous you are, the more of an ass you are going to look like. Oh, and wear something very thin and revealing..eer slimming. For aerodynamics...unless you're chubby. Then you'll want like a corset. Again...for aerodynamics.
