blew it up and lost

Recommended Posts

bought a banshee that runs on 110 octane, blew it up! can rebuild it my self but i ain't sure what pistons are in it. to damaged to read. they are domed with 20 cc domes in cool head, if i bore it and get the rite size pistons will a regular wiseco domed piston work? want to keep it the same as it was except a minimal bore. any sugestions would be appreiated, and new to the site!

Help me to understand why you were running 110 octane while using 20cc domes?

That was not his question. Assuming that it is not a stroker or long rod crank, then you just need the standard 513 series Wiseco piston in whatever size your bore ends up at. Remember you have to bore each side, so you should be able to look at your goos piston to see what it is and repair accordingly. I recomend letting whoever does the boring supply the pistons(as long as he supplies Wisecos), that way you get the correct pistons for your bore and the clearances are set to the pistons you will be running.

i 've rebuilt a couple of four wheelers, i know to bore it, cross hatch, all that good stuff, but i've always done the mods my self, so now i'm kinda lost cuz i don't know if it's stroked or what, don't think so, but waana go back with the same set up! to tell you guys the truth, i'm an idiot, he told me 2 run 110 but i tried 87 after a couple of tanks and the piston came apart , down to the 2nd ring! yea i'm a idiot!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay well that was my question there tuff guy!

There is no reason to run high octane unless your compression requires it. I mean it's your money you are wasting, but running H-O when it isnt needed is not doing anything for your engine. If you wanna keep running it buy some 15-18cc domes for your coolhead. Just trying to help

Ill tell you what tuff guy,if its not ported 20cc domes can warrant race gas maybe not 110 but def race gas territory,if its stroked it can push 175-180 static compression with 20cc.I wouldnt go giving out info like dropping to 15cc domes in anything.I have tried 100s of combos and never needed 15cc domes.Even on drag ported motors

then let me ask this, 110 ran awesome, on 87 it ran like shit, and i mean shit, had to double clutch to get it moving, then clutch again to get it in the powerband to feel any power, it was instant power loss. like less than half power, 30 min later a piston was melted and locked up! from ya'lls experiance, what mods do you think i have or why do i run 110, and do you think the 87 is the cause? i do! but i'm no professional, thanks fellas

Im not a pro but it sounds like your motor was built to run high octane and by using 87 octane, you made it detonate from the first bang. Im guessing it was detonatin so bad that the fuel was becoming unstable long before TDC and pre-ignighting the fuel, meaning when it was time for the spark to normally ignight it, you had no fuel or very little left to burn. You would have slowly been chipping away at your pistons, causing them to leak and lower your compression and crank case pressure, also causing power to drop fast.

Imo I would not run 87 in a stock shee ,your going to have to measure the bore, you can use a caliper for a rough estimate,to do it the rite way i would crack the cases to check everything good after a meltdown, then you can identify the crank, porting
