ok guys tore down completely over the winter had things painted and so forth and i split the cases and looked everything over. everything was great and resealed the case back up and was waitin for the top end to be bored. well i got the back with the pistons and everything was great. everything went together great got fluids in and stuff and no leaks. well i been kickin the shit out of it and cant get it to fire. i checked spark and i got good spark. i cleaned the carbs and set them between 20 and 22 mm. and the spark plugs are new. so im assuming its getting gas. i have even tried alittle starting fluid and its a no go. i know it has 28mm pwks with slide throttle so no tors here. the timing is advanced +4. forged pistons 66mm and forged crank and rods. does anyone have any idea where to go with this next? its really getting aggravating

Did u check the clearance on the pickup and flywheel? I had the same problem and I forgot to locktite my pickup and the bolts fell out and about ruined my stator.

when i put it together i checked the clearances and it was good. i have spark to the motor so i know thats good. i didnt lock tite anything... was i supposed to?

It's a good idea to locktight the bolts on the pickup. Also did you make any changes to the wiring harness like add a kill switch or remove your parking brake ect... ?I would double check all of your electrical connections. Are you sure your carbs are opening exactly the same?

yeah there was no adjustments made to the carb slides from the last time it ran. i didnt add anything the only thing i did was remove the key but that was before the rebuild. i mean the spark seems ok. i figured it would be stronger but the gap is quite good so i dunno. its acting like it almost wants to run ya know but it just doesnt wanna take off

damn, this has got me thinking.......hmmmm??? You said you got spark so everything must be grounded correctly. I would disconnect all the electrical components and just start all over and reconnect it all and check all the connections. And I would definetley BLUE locktite the pick up and timing plate. You could not be getting a good ground somewhere, stator could be weak, CDI on its last leg.....etc. This is a toughy!

I had an issue last year with my banshee not starting. I had spark also and it ended up being related to my thumb throttle adjustment. I adjusted the thumb throttle slack adjustment back down and it started right up. The manual stated that you shouldnt give the banshee gas while trying to start it. With the thumb throttle adjustment off ...mine must have been getting too much gas while trying to start....Just a thought.... Hope it helps...

ok so i pulled my coil since the frame was painted and i sanded down and made sure there was good contact for the coil. the coil checks out for sure. i blue loctited the two screws that hold the pick up and checked clearances and everything was good. i definitely have spark. my plugs look dry though for some reason like gas wasnt getting in? i mean my pistons had an arrow on the top and i have that pointing toward the exhaust side away from the carbs. i have a cool head on this as well. so i dunno the carbs should be spitting fuel in there but for some reason my plugs are dry??? i hope i put the pistons in the right way. i dunno how it could be the carbs. i have the float heights adjusted on the 28 pwks and everything is clean. the pistons are in with the two holes on the side facing toward the reeds. is that correct?

Did you try the over flow screw to see if fuel runs out of the carbs over flow?

I did some work to mine and didn't put the crossover hose back between the carbs and it wouldn't start for anything in the world.

its connected. well the crossover tube is in if thats what ur talking about and i think so. so update. ok i checked the gap on the flywheel and im about .017 gap so im getting spark. made sure the coil was grounded and its getting spark. it shocked me rather well lol. carbs i went through again and everything is clear there. i notcied alittle space between my petals on the reed cages during the tear down and i flipped them over and thinking about putting it back to normal cause it seems like my plugs arent getting wet for some reason. but i even tried putting alittle gas in the spark plug hole to see if it would pop and i got nothing back so. im really at a loss and kickin that damn thing over and over again is kinda rough on ur foot. anyone have any ideas at all?

LOL i did the same thing, fired right up after i found it was missing.

yeah im gonna try it after i get out of college today. i ordered a new rm coil too just in case and to have one on hand in case the spark is to weak but i dont think it is. i really didnt wanna post this cause there are like a ton of postings on it wont start but i've covered almost everything. the bastard thing is really eating me alive. i just wanna kick the shit out of it hahahahha oh and these are 28mm pwks as far as im aware there wouldt be a choke crossover tube. one choke per carb. but yes the dirty boost bottle is running through the intake.
