SheezFast02
Any ideas on what would cause my plugs to be really wet and oily? The bike runs good and has lot's of power, with the occasional bog in the mid-range ( runs mint if kept in the powerband). I'm waiting for pipes and jets in the mail, so when they get here I'll make sure everything is setup correctly, but I'm curious. You think oils getting past the rings and causing this? I'm going to do a compression test this afternoon to see where I'm at with my top end. I'm already sure the previous owner has it jetted wrong, so that would explain the bog. What are you running your premix at? The wrong jetting would explain the bog, as well as the wet oily plugs. What are your mods, elevation and air temp? SheezFast02
Stock everything until my pipes and jets get here. I'm running a UNI foam filter, no snorkel and lid is ON. Elevation is approx 320' and outside temps are mid 20's Celsius. I did pull the lid off ysterday and ran it for a minute to see if it would make up for possible rich jetting, and it seemed to run a little better under load, still idled perfectly. I have a feeling that the bike was piped and jetted before, but he pulled the pipes off and put the stockers on before I bought it. If that's the case, the least he could've done was told me to rejet. So you think I'm dealing with a rich condition on my main?
SheezFast02
Sorry, I'm running 40:1 Amsoil Interceptor with 91 Octane.
Rodneya
You think oils getting past the rings and causing this? What oil do you think is getting past the rings? You need to do some research on the difference between a 2 and 4 stroke motors.

SheezFast02
Thought maybe some ATF Type-F was getting up into the cylinder one way or another, but mostly figured jetting was the culprit. Rodneya: Sorry I'm not a know-it-all when it comes to 2 strokes. I try and learn what I can, when I can, and apparently I'm not up to speed on 2 stroke engine diagnosis. So why don't you post something about Detailing or paint correction and I'll make you look like an asshole on a public forum. And for the record, I can't stand 4 strokes. I'll know what jets are in there once I get a chance to pop the carbs off. Thanks for your help.

SheezFast02
My appologies, Rodneya. I actually wanted to retract my previous post, but no edit button. I just think the point could've been made without going that route.. And yes, I have lot's to learn about 2 strokes, specifically the Banshee, as I've owned mine a total of about 3 weeks. So if you'd like to explain how my assumption (that bottom end fluid could make its way into the top end) is wrong, now would be a great time to help me learn the difference between 2 and 4 stroke engines. I've owned several 2 strokes since I was a kid.. Never got into a bottom end before so I know nothing about them. Maybe I took your post the wrong way. If so, I appologize. I'm going to have to rejet for the pipes and I plan on running with the lid off, so I'll hold off and pull the carbs when The parcels arrive. Thanks. shee4speed
sounds like a simple rejet. is a basic on two strokes. When you get your pipes, let us know your mods and we can get you ballpark close. You may want to plugchop.Personal preferance.
SheezFast02
Thank for the link. Didn't know air/fuel went into the crankcase. I thought the crank was lubed along with the tranny. Pretty cool stuff.
