BANSHEE WARS --NO MORE?

Recommended Posts

i was at the four stroke wars on march 13th @ glamis helping a buddy compete. i was told by the people there that banshee wars is no more. too much cheating and lieing is the cause. they said people that claimed they were running stock stroke cranks were really running 4 mils. people that claimed their bikes were at a certain size bore were really much bigger. stock cylinders were being sleeved huge. they said that people were fist fighting, words were being exchanged too much, and accusations were flying. they said that it is easier to just not do the banshee wars anymore. they said that when a persons motor was questioned, and money was put up for the inspection, most people would not do it. thus making themselves look like cheaters and causing even more problems. does anyone know if this is true? please correct me or share any info that you might have.

Honestly, I'm glad they ended banshee wars. It made all of us look bad. I can't tell you how many arguments and pissy little fights I saw out there. It's bad enough that shit happens every weekend, we don't need an organized event for hot heads to gather. Take it elsewhere, there's too many problems already with glamis. We don't need violence out there any more than there already is.

fighting brings too much un-needed attention from the police, rangers, and gives the fag tree huggers more fuel against all of us. it makes it easier to begin closing more areas down. the four stroke war seemed very peaceful. everyone knew each other pretty well and they all got along. if someone else starts a banshee competition i hope that it goes well and there is no trouble. peoples incredible inflated pride and their easily hurt feelings is what the sport doesnt need.

the way they do this at the national hillclimbs is to do a teardown after the races are over.

obviously, the open class doesnt matter and doesnt require teardown

but the classes with cc restrictions usually tear down the top 3.

that would probily work for banshee wars, that way there wouldnt be any reason for things to get out of control. hopefully the first time there is an incident at 4 stroke wars "they" wont shut it down as well. somewhere on atvdragracers.com i read this quote, "competition brings out the best in products but the worst in people." i think this is very true.

Like they said. They tried to do tear downs but the owners refused. If you dont have anything to hide, why hide?

I think the problem is that it is a 1 time deal. After the races every body dissapears and isnt seen again until next year. If you tried pulling that stuff at your local drag track where you ran ever weekend you would be banned from competing.

Maybe it would help if they didnt let every tom dick and harry compete. If they have never herd of you, never seen your banshee run, you dont compete regulary you can't compete in offical races. If you dont have any Credit, then you dont have any Credibility so you dont race.

We race almost every weekend at KP in the summer and don't get into fights about it. We all know there are the guys who show up claiming they have a 4mil that's really a 10mil or a stock stroke that's really a 4mil... it happens everywhere. Its just the people who are there racing that make it what it is. Shitty people make shitty racing, good people make good racing.
