blue angel Posted March 16, 2010 Report Posted March 16, 2010 I am considering several upgrades at the moment and I would like to get some opinions on what I am considering. I am currently running on an all stock machine. I have a set of fmf golds going on this weekend. the other upgrades I am thinking of are: 1. Twist grip throttle with Vitos caps to eliminate the TORS system. Is there any downfall to running a twist grip over thumb throttle? 2. cool head with 22 cc domes. 3. air box eliminator kit? I am thinking of switching to the 2 into 1 kit with outerwear. the only real reason I am thinking of doing that is to make working on the bike easier. 4. vforce 3 reed system? I have always used Boysen reeds but I am interested in giving Vforce a try. 5. boost bottle.....do they really do anything? your thoughts on these upgrades are greatly appreciated. Quote

TORS eliminator is a must. twist throttles and quads dont exactly mix well....atleast not from my experience. for some reason its way different than a twist throttle on a dirtbike. the cool head is nice to have but un-needed if you run anything larger than a 21cc dome. stock is 22cc's. the 2 into 1 filter setup is good if you ride in places that are wet or really dusty/muddy. they dont increase performance as much as pod filters but they arent as prone to sucking water. vforce reeds are aimed more towards top end so it really depends on the kind of riding you do and where you want your power. boost bottles dont do shit. dont buy one. if you have one get rid of it and run a stock cross over tube. hope this helps! bbcmudtruck Posted March 16, 2010 Report Posted March 16, 2010 If you want to start getting power adders, start with an adjustable timing plate. Then if you decide you want a cool head, bump up your compression with some 20cc domes. Timing + more compression + air filter + pipes and you will have your basic bolt on banshee upgrades. Quote
blue angel Posted March 17, 2010 Author Report Posted March 17, 2010 thank you for the advice....do you have any more information on the timing plate....I have no idea what or where that is. Quote

Well said. I dont know how people do it. But I could see if you are doing a long distance race which where then you can get the dual gasser. Which will allow you to switch. But I had a long distance race and the damn throttle broke on me. It was not worth the money for what you pay for it. You can get some other bolt on parts for that price of that damn thing. But like the rest of the bolt on parts for the banshee, they will really make it wake up and shine for what it really was built for. Quote
blue angel Posted March 17, 2010 Author Report Posted March 17, 2010 I should probably mention that I am buying these used, I am getting 2 stock carbs with vitos tors eliminator and the twist grip throttle all assembled already. If I go with the 20 cc domes in the cool head will I need to run race gas? I have been told with 19cc you do....but how about 20cc? also I strictly trail ride so I do not need to be concerned about water skipping or the race track. Quote
bansheesandrider Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 I run a twist and love it. Most people I ride with are of the opinion of, if you grew up riding dirt bike and are used to a twist, then it is fine. If you learned to ride with a thumb throttle, then you may not like it. It is a matter of personal preference. My daughter started out when she was 5 with a thumb throttle on a TRX70. At 10 we switched her to a Blaster with a thumb throttle, but she had problems with her thumb getting tired. Finally after 2 years of having to stop and let her thumb rest, we decided to try a twist throttle. We have not had to stop since and she is now 22. She has never had a crash or near miss because of the throttle. So it is a matter of personal preference. I also run the 2 into 1 set up on all my Banshees and love it. I use an outerwear and ride sand and don't have any problems with water. I did not notice a difference in power with pods, but I like not having to clean two air filters for each bike, and every thing else is much easier to get to.Stay away from the boost bottle, they don't do anything but cause your intake boots to tear. As for reeds, I am running Boyesen reeds on stock reed cages that have been ported and knife edgded and that works well for me for the money that I have invested. Quote
