Ieat4strokes
Buddy just got him another banshee. 140 compression both sides. I rode it the other day and it had a miss under wot. Now he says it backfires out right pipe when u give it gas and will barely idle. Cleaned carbs, checked reeds and swapped wires still does it. Any suggestions? Any suggestions? i'd do another compression test, mine was the same way, the right side was detonating cause i didnt use high enough octane because the dick that i bought it from didnt tell me it had 19cc domes and needed to run at least a 50/50 race - pump gas i just ran 89 and it was done in about 10 minuts. sounds to me like it might need a rebuild, just my .02 thow good luck with it
fastbanshee8
Check the right side for an air leak. Intake boots, base gasket, and reed cage gaskets are all possible leak points.
Ieat4strokes
Ok thanks guys, ill let him know, Baker - I do know its a all stock motor with a stock head so its not a octane issue.
White97Banshee
I had the same problem on my 'Shee turned out when I bought it the right side intake boot was ripped from the stupid boost bottle the guy had plugged in there. An intake leak is the most likely thing so like stated above check all the intake boots gaskets etc.. I bet that's what it is.

sleeper06
I have had a bad flywheel on a customers bike do what your describing.I would do the protocall first Compression, pressure test with intake assembly,do a one time on the wiring harness to check for frayed shit.all the basics will make you chase your tail if its not a sound piece to begin with
Ieat4strokes
Yea it's pretty bad! Backfires real heavy when u give it gas. Just on that one side. He said he's gonna go through it this weekend so hopefully I can post back some good news.
Patsy
Hi I'm new to the banshee scene, Mine's doing the same thing on the left side. Was riding it all day with my buddies and towards the end of the day realized there was kind of a dead spot when I started to give it gas while riding the trails. Once you got past the dead spot it would rev fine. The next weekend went to ride it and it will idle with the choke on(which tends to close by itself?? are there rebuilds for the choke)..as soon as you turn off the choke and tap the throttle it snorts like a pig then will die if you tap it a couple times...if you give it a lot of throttle it kinda makes a puffing sound and back fires. I sprayed carb cleaner around intake...head gaskets....nothing happens. I cleaned the carb too. Still doing it.
