pingel valve

Recommended Posts

My petcock has a minute leak...not enough to spill a drop but i notice fuel on the knob and on the bottom of the cock..{lol} .. does any one know

about thier high- flow valves.( Pingel). I have engine work,,( 100 oct. L) domes ,, pistons,, pipes,, cool heads,, they say for high power engines that need more

fuel,, I have stock carbs,, will these be able to handle the high flow valve? if not ..they are chome and look cool.. :headbang:

You can rebuild the stock one for around $10. They flow enough for stock carbs with motor work. If its not flowing, I would drain the tank. Pull the petcock out and check the inline filters. I bet they have stuff on them. You can use an air gun at low presser to clear the filters from the inside out. There is also a how 2 on here somewhere how to make the stock one into a dual feed high flow. But then you dont have reserve.

Maybe you didn't put enough teflon tape on the valve. directions say 3 full revolutions or more.

Mine has never leaked a drip. I didn't even use any sealer. Just a lot of Teflon tape on the threads. Make sure you don't tear up the sealing surface when your cutting the tank.

You guys that have leaks did you first install the valve with no sealer at all in between the tank and valve? Most sealers are not gasoline proof. Gasoline will dissolve and deteriorate RTV, and Ultra Coper, Ultra Black, and regular silicone.

How tight do you screw the actual valve into the base, I feel like its going to face the front of the bike if I tighten it more than hand tight.  How many threads do you guys have showing once yours is tightened to the base.  Thanks

Learned my lesson the other day with a new pingel! After installing one,  It is a good idea to only add a dash of gas first and check for leaks. I did not do this! I have an oversized tank and i just started topping it off. Near the 5+ gallon mark some one said, "your leaking gas". I look and sure enough a puddle was forming fast. I made sure it was shut off but touching it just made it leak more. It was obvious it was leaking from the gasket and at a descent rate and in my cousins driveway. I had to remove the tank as fast as i could with what little tools were available. I put a bolt in the gas cap overflow tube to plug it and tipped the tank upside down remove the pingel with the tank still full. Quick inspection showed there was a bur of plastic from my obviously inferior cutting job. Sanded it smooth and put gasket back on and it sealed fine.

go as hard as you can by hand with teflon on it. then get a wrench and get atleast 1 full turn out of it or until it faces the right direction. if it dont face right redo and add or take away teflon then retighten till it tightens and faces correctly.

Sounds about right. I put teflon on, and just got it tight to where I wanted. I think that's about it.
