Badbar88
January is an awesome time to ride...cold at night but awesome. Wait ur from Indiana....You won't mind that abit. I would check out Glamisinfo.com and maybe even BLM to make sure you know all the RULES ! I don't mean to sound like like my dad but the BLM and Sherrifs dept. are EVERYWHERE and looking for any reason to stop and ticket you. Do yourself a favor and plan for a non-holiday weekend the riding is better and much less harrasement by the fuzz.
GrMeyer
You will need to have your registration for your bikes to be on the safe side. If not then they will take them. You will also need to have a CAL off road sticker for each bike. Unless your bike has and OHV sticker from the MVD of your state. You will also need to have a weekend pass for the truck/car/rv you will be driving. Make sure to bring jets. It will go from 70ish down the the 30s at night. You cant have glass bottles. So cans only. GPS if your new. read this site. He has alot of way point for the GPS http://www.dunereview.com/glamismap.htm You will be fine with reg dirt tires up front. But for the rear. I would look at getting some paddles. When you ride, just remember that the cell phone tower has a red flashing light. It is a good point of reference. When you come to a dune ridge, always come at it at a 45deg. So you can commit or go back down. My groups saying, "If in doubt, throttle out!" If you go on an off weekend, there will be almost no Rangers/Sherrif's out there. But if you go on a busy weekend. You will see them everywhere!!! Just go to youtube and watch "Glamis" movies. Badbar88
Yeah what he said. And you have to have a brakelight at night, flags too, and technically you should have a red or orange flag on top but thats about the only thing i haven't been stopped for. 15 mph speed limit within 50 yards of a camp, and watch out at night when ridin through camps cuz everyone hits a berm track they didn't see comin! Now that Glamis sounds like complete shit, here is the good shit, hit Olds hill during the day and watch all the money that we all wish we had going ape shit on the hill and then head down to Gecko road at about 2pm and watch the drags. And don't forget plenty of BEER !

Lots of people out wanting to race their pride and joys. Then the lovely slow and scary dune ride back to camp. Depending on when you go. I might be out there the weekend after newyears. This last newyears there was crazzzzy. way to many cops!!! I will keep my ass away from the major weekends for now on. But if its your first time. It is something not to miss on a packed weekend. Many as up to over 100,000 people. Oh yeah... Watch out for rails come straight up over dunes. I have seen my brother almost been hit three times this year by a rail coming over a dune. So try to find some virgin sand. Edited March 6, 2010 by GrMeyer
ClimbAnyHill
Out of state riders can buy the visitor sticker at the vendors and that's all they need besides helmet and flag. I ride there on many big weekends and never been bothered by rangers. Not even when we camped next to their station. They do enforce the petty stuff like brake lights and spark arrestors when you call their attention. Just behave and stay out of rangers way and you'll be ok. Here's a ton of Glamis information, check out all the pinned topics Glamis - Dunercentral.com Edited March 6, 2010 by ClimbAnyHill
Badbar88
9pm we're still drinkin beer so we ride fast, it's that damn 3am ride after the Crown Royal is gone and we've blown off all our Sobe bombs that's slow and scary !
GrMeyer
Yes. Very true. Last year I had both my tailtech hid lights go out on my raptor on the fun drunken ride back to camp from the hill. I have now kept a head lamp and a flashlight I'm my camelback. Also come in handy for the guys riding dirtbikes and they get stuck out there after dark
