Case saver plastic or billet?

My pesonal choice would be the TM Designworks one that is plastic and goes arond the countershaft for an anchor. It is plastic which will absorb the impact instead of billet which will transfer the impact to the mounting bolts. Like I said the countershaft is far bigger than anything else around there, and it is completly surrounded by metal so it is very well supported and won't be breaking any ears off of the cases.

Some people claim the plastic is better because if you loose a chain the metal can bust the cases still. I have never seen it happen though.

If you are interested I got a used metal one for sale from my motor I am parting. 25 bucks shipped.

thats what i heard i have a buddy that that happend to cracked his four stroke case loosing all his oil and motor plown! thats why i asked

metal will transfer the shock from the chain into the cases. the chain is also a lot more likely to ball up with the metal causing more damage.

the plastic ones will absorb more impact from the chain. the plastic is also more slick, which will make the chain slide on through instead of ball up like the metal ones.

I was going to get the plastic one but my local bike shop told me billet was better, I remember some people on here saying billet was bad, just wanted to make sure, plastic it is! thanks guys

I had a billet saver but switched to a plastic style this season.. The one I got fits up agaisnt the case for support. it was only $20 shipped.. I do like the TM designs but.. it was a lil steep. Not to mention that the plastic ones can be ground down easier then the billet ones to fit the larger sprockets.

Where did you get on for $20 shipped? I can only find them for $30+ shipping.
