bansheejoel
Well ive been looking at a set of rocket pipes for a while now and the guy says there the old style but i dont know what the difference is. locogato11283
the main differences in the older style and the new were the silencers. notice in the first pic below how the end of the silencer flares? thats the older style. then the next pic it doesnt? thats the newer style way back then i upgraded to the newer style silencer, but the expansion chamber didnt change. also, when people say the new ones are "junk" they dont really even know what theyre talking about. at one point in time there was a guy making them that put down some shitty welds on them. its plain and obvious when looking at them. if you find a set that has good looking welds, then there is nothing wrong with them. VegasJeff
you ever think about having a personalized seat cover with the BHQ logo made for your shee? that would look good!
bbcmudtruck
What about the thickness of the metal and the quality of chrome? Are the new ones as good as the ones I got?
peterlocal22
the welds were crappy on the old ones but the newer ones suck in my opinion. ive had both

What about the thickness of the metal and the quality of chrome? Are the new ones as good as the ones I got? ive never heard of any thickness issues. theyve gotta be a certain thickness im sure. it was never an issue to my knowledge though. the welds were crappy on the old ones but the newer ones suck in my opinion. ive had both the welds on my set and my brothers were great. bbcmudtruck has my brothers old set and theres not a thing wrong with them. ive not seen a brand new set by these new owners so i have no way to tell. trickedcarbine
There were some shitty pipes put in the mix because the original owner had farmed out work, then eventually sold off the company. There is currently a BRAND NEW owner, but they are working out a deal to get new dies for stamping, and will be producing new pipes. From what dave at rocket has told me many of the remaining pipes they have are just reworked or fixed pipes that the last owner had sort of hacked. Just find a set that fits right, and has clean welds, and buy that shit! You will never regret it. Also the main difference with the new owner is that the head pipe to stinger flange is changed so that any standard banshee clamp will work. arfountain
If you want a new set by the original guy who was making them (Tom), I have his number some where, if not I have him on facebook. It's been a while since I've talked to him, but last time I did he was starting to make them on the side again, and was starting to get a newer design out. I had a set of his new ones in my basement for a while that Ray was going to try out, not sure if he ever did or not?

arfountain
Yeah, I mean Minkia, and Tom gave Ray a new set to try out last summer. Tom was going to try to start another business after selling the other. I haven't talked to him for a while, so not sure what ended up happening. arfountain
No, I never took any pics of them, they made there way over to Ray (Minkia). That was last summer when Tom was still over here near Wyoming, MI. I believe he moved out towards Muskegon Mi somewhere. I haven't talked to him in almost a year.
