Beerplease Posted February 26, 2010 Report Share Posted February 26, 2010 I have a stock 2001 Banshee and I am in the process if replacing all the worn out pieces on the bike. One of the lower front control arm ball joints has a bent shaft and a torn up boot. Is it possible to get replacement stock-type ball joints? And if so do the old ones just press out of the a arms. bansheesandrider Posted February 28, 2010 Report Share Posted February 28, 2010 No, the stock ball joints are welded into the arm and the only way to replace the ball joint is to replace the whole arm, assuming that they are stock arms. That is why aftermarket arms are so popular, you can buy a set of aftermarket a arms for about the same money as a complete set of stockers and then in the future you can replace just the ball joints. Beerplease Posted February 28, 2010 Author Report Share Posted February 28, 2010 Ok that's what I was afraid of, I did find the boots I needed however and now that I look at that lower ball joint again after disassembling the other one I see that the that bolt is not straight either.
