Pappa Kaneda
Thought I'd introduce myself. I live in Northern MN and just got an 87 Banshee last week. Nothing too special. Standard length HotRod crank, Wiseco 0.10 pistons, Toomey pipes, Fly Handlebars, Trailtech Vapor dash, and some wore out Holeshots on the back. Shee needs a winter tune on the carb but I've been riding her anyway. Luckily ATV's can be ridden on the streets here as long as you stay off the highways. This is my very first ATV, just had to have a Banshee. All of my Honda Head friends wanted me to get a 400EX but I just had to have a Shee. One question I do have, how long does a tank of gas usually last? It seems like I got about 30 to 45 minutes of riding out of my first tank... about right or waaaay too soon? Thanks guys, glad to be here.
locogato11283
welcome to HQ bro that doesnt sound like very long on a tank of gas, but then again i dont play ride mine like that. im sure some others will speak up. i guess it will depend on how much youre on the throttle. kodie
30-45 mins is way to short even for a bigger carb. When I had 2 30 mm carbs I was running around 4-5 hours give or take 30. I always ran out of gas before all my 4 stroke buddies but then again they always had to eat my roost and then catch me when I stoped to regroup. Definately not under an hour. Was this your first and only tank? You sure it was full? I know they are dumb questions but I've kicked my shee before about 40 times wondering what the fuck was wrong and I forgot to turn the gas on. So shit does happen. springer
ya a tank should last way longer. i accidentally sent my dad out on an empty tank once and after about 30 mins, i was about to head out to take him some gas cuz i figured he was sittin empty somewhere in the dunes and then he came rollin up to camp with no clue i was freakin out about it. said he didnt even put it on reserve or anything... bbcmudtruck
Well with a few mods and upgrades you can flat out destroy your buddies on their 400s! A tank with stock carbs should last you at least 4hrs. Banshees are gas hogs though. Your buddies on their 4 strokes will get alot better mileage out of a tank of fuel so be aware of that when you go on long rides with them. Welcome to the HQ! Pappa Kaneda
I'll work on the pics thing... can't link from BookFace. It will definitely be a money taking experience. I'm trying to convince myself to ride a few seasons before changing anything... that may not happen. It could be alot quicker.

Sandfrk33
My last trip to the dunes, I put a gps on the handlebars. Figured I was around 9 miles per gallon. This was not racing, just dune riding.
