I just bought a 02 stock banshee and my buddy has a stock YFZ450 that smokes me every time we race. So i'm planning on throwing some money into my banshee hoping i can make it faster then his YFZ450 thats stock. Can anyone help me out on where i need to start with my performance upgrades the cheapest way possible? I've allrdy order toomey t-5,v-force,k and n filter, adj timing plate, tors. i really don't want to have to run race gas either.

Sounds like your on the right track, now just add a coolhead w/domes, maybe some gearing changes. Then its Porting time to go way F.A.S.T. !!

With just the t-5's you probably beat him but instead of the $200 for reeds you should have got it ported for $350 at fast and would be no contest. The timing plate is also a great idea.

man i beat my buddies 450 with a stock motor fmf pipes non jetted....and it was a old top end...i guess it ran so good cuz it was leAN but eventually it killed my motor with no jetting but i still smoked his ass easy. i guess it all depennds on how good u come out the hole keeping that frnt down is the key...

i have close to that same setup and stock yfz's dont even stand a chance i just walk on them all day but definitely go with porting to just dominate

well i think what im gonna do is get everything installed and tuned right and then see where i am against the yzf and go from there. i guess if i'm still not happy with the power my next step will be the cool heads and porting

Mount the filter in the box. So keep the K&N and take the lid off. Jet the bike and it will be a new ball game. The banshee loves to breath. So keepn the lid on will b e the weak point. With the lid off. Ur jetting wold me around 300 mains needle in the middle and 27.5 pilots. With the lid. I should be around 270 with some holes in the lid. Needle in the mid and still 27.5 pilots. Put the timing at +4. If u plan on putting the timing plate on u will need a flywheel puller. This set up should get u in line for one quick bike. Also u will need to learn how to sync the carbs or ur bottom end will suck!
