stevengates45
Hey, I am new to this forum but I am not new to fourwheelers and motors. I have a 2006 Yamaha Banshee and I have Vforce 3 intake reeds as well. I have started noticing that one cylinder on my bike doesn't fire as well as the other one. Long story short, I have traced it down to the intake reeds. I have disassembled the reeds and I have found that the carbon-fiber petals have worn out and have pretty deep grooves from the cages that have set in the petals. I flipped all of the reeds so that now a flat surface is touching my reed cage and this has helped my motor tremendously. So obviously, it's time for me to order a new set of petals for my reed cage. Now here is my question... Am I the only one that has had this problem? And does anyone know if the wear on these reeds is normal? I have had these reeds a little over a year now and I just didn't expect to find them worn out this soon... Anybody else? locogato11283
welcome to bansheehq that does seem a little premature on reed wear. ive been running mine for several years with no issues like that. running them flipped will be fine. i would probably go ahead and order some replacements to have just in case something happens. any of our site sponsors here on HQ can get them for you. jbooker82
I think that over time they just bow. So filpping them over from time to time helps.
bansheesandrider
This is just my expierence, but every time I have flipped my reeds over, they have cracked and broke of shortly afterwards.
MILO
for the cost of new reeds i would just replace them rather than have them shatter & throw chunks into the motor. any chance you've had a lot of dirt & debris flowing through, like from a dirty or worn out air filter? that would contribute to premature failure. really not good for the top end either. locogato11283
i agree about buying new ones and replacing them. i think running them temporarily they would be fine, but i would go ahead and get some replacements in there. firebanshee
How aggressive of port job do you have? I had a blaster that had a pretty wild port job and it went through a set once a year. It had extra boost ports added and it put alot more pressure on the reeds.
