New and needing help...

Hey all....i just recently picked up a 01 banshee from a police auction. its in pretty decent shape....but im concerned about the jetting. It has FMF fattys, v-force reeds and powercore-2 silencers, and a 2-1 air filter. Where i ride in the summer is usually around 70 degrees and 1200 ft elevation.

The bike starts always on the second kick....if not on the first. when i first took it for a ride i noticed it has a real bad low speed bog....wants to die if you pin it. but if you feather the throttle to the powerband it starts to scream like it should. I pulled the carbs off and it has #240 mains and #25 pilots..... i have this bad feeling that its way lean isn't it???

welcome to HQ homie

first, i would put 27.5 pilots in the bike. 25 is stock and with any pipe mod the pilots should be raised. the bogging is probably because its not getting enough gas in the pilot circuit. put the 27.5 pilots in and ride it. see if that clears it up.

then, i would jet that thing up. 240 is a pretty lean main jet for all those mods. somewhere around 280 is closer to where it should be. you can always do a WOT plug check once you jet it up to see how close you are. white=lean, tan = good and black = rich. i wouldnt do the plug check until you change the mains though. that sounds too lean to be running the hell out of it in this weather.
